My New Mac Snow Snow Leopard Edition is a great book if you want to get more out of your Mac.

My first impression was, "This book is wonderful for a new user to get started, even one who has never owned a computer before." My second thought was that including Encrypting Your Data, and Configuring the Firewall was really not necessary for new users, but then new users often express concern about security at user group meetings.

As I read further, I found that My New Mac, Snow Leopard Edition's projects are a wonderful way for me, or for any other user I know, to get started to use their Mac to do more things and to work in new ways. It is fun to do the projects and learn new stuff.

My New Mac, Snow Leopard Edition, begins with simple projects you need to get started, such as how to use your new mouse or track pad. Part 1 Basic Training even includes Conserving Energy which may be considered as basic for new laptop users.

An introduction to short cuts is just the beginning if the nine projects in Part 2 Making Life Easier with Shortcuts. Other projects include using the Dashboard, User Accounts, and Making Your Mac Easier to See, Hear, and Control. The projects are interesting, and clearly and accurately written to get you started to work better.

Parts 3, Putting Your Macintosh to Work, covers projects from Jotting Down Notes to Typing Foreign Languages with audio, visual, and other projects in between. You are sure to find some that will interest you in doing something new. Part 4, Touching the World Through the Internet, contains sets of projects to to keep you in touch with the wired world. These projects will get you started in doing new and interesting things and/or in learning new ways to do these things.

The are six projects in Part 5, Maintaining Your Macintosh, include three on maintenance and three on protecting your security.

As described in The Next Step, this book can only give you a solid foundation on which you can learn to use your Macintosh to do actual work. I hope that it also gets you interested in trying new things for the fun of it.

I bought my first Mac in the spring and learned the basics from the mac website. I recently purchased this book and though some of it is too basic for me, I've gotten a lot of great ideas on how to customize and use my iMac. I look forward to finishing the book and learn a lot more.

This is the second time I ordered this book from

Amazon.com. I was so impressed with it, that I wanted my brother to have it for his new Imac. My son originally got this book from the library for me to read, because he knew I was ordering a new Imac. The book is very easy to understand, showing pictures with the directions it gives. I'm a first time mac user, and by following the directions in the book, it made getting to know the mac a lot easier, with less frustration.

I owned a Mac for 5 years but had my son nearby and simply asked for help whenever I needed it. Great relationship but I never really learned how to navigate on my own. So when I recently purchased a new Mac, I wanted to do more than just phone for help. This book is perfect for me and anyone new to the Mac. It has projects that not only introduce you to the possibilities, but step-by-step reminders for things you won't do often and may have forgotten. There are 54 chapters/projects that run the gamut from basic navigation to creative ideas - all making life easier as there is no guesswork as to how to find something using the proper computer language, which I will never master. If you are a techie, this is probably too easy, but for someone like me, it is fun and informative and sits beside my computer for quick reference or a casual exploration. Use it to manage files, edit and store pictures, shortcuts, foreign language help, and finding all those things once they are on the computer. Highly recommended for its simplicity and helpful guides.

I recently bought my wife a brand new Mac Book Pro but she needed some guidence and this book was the answer. She now operates the Mac with confidence. This is a great book. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I have not had a lot of time to read. But I have learned and everything is explained with pictures and examples in simple language. This book is for beginners like me and I look forward to learning more. I purchased this book thru amazon.com sold by "Good Books Will Follow". It was shipped quickly and I believe the book was described as "good condition", however, it was in "like new" condition, much better than described. I will use the seller again.

Like most Mac users bought for reference. Still on desk, maybe, someday, I'll look into it. Normally Mac comes out with something before this happens and I'll have to seek expert answers!
