Beirut's March of the Zapotec album on the whole is a hybrid of electronic and well Brass instruments. "My Night With the Prostitute From Marseille" definitely falls under the former. I love Zach Condon's voice and was glad to see new work from him. Worth checking out if you like Beirut's previous albums and if you're new to Beirut, this is a great introduction.

I'm not sure what the other reviewers are hearing, but this song has bewitched me. The haunting lyrics are so obscure and almost cryptic, they remind me of a prayer or a confession and Beirut's voice resonates with such honesty I wouldn't be surprised if the title describes an event that actually happened. ;8^) The I keep hitting the repeat button when this plays and I can't help but sing along.

I don't know, I guess it's all a matter of taste, but if you're looking for independent/alternative music as opposed to the latest Britney Spears single then this should be right up your alley. Reminds me a little of David Byrne/The Blue Nile. I can't say enough about it. I simply LOVE it.
