Book Description

January 4, 2000
He was a daring cat burglar who never suspected his heart could be stolen....

When Kitty Fontaine invades the opulent homes of London aristocrats, she seeks only one treasure: the Blood of India, the exquisite ruby that will ransom the life of her father. But someone else covets the fabulous gem--the coolly audacious burglar known as the Tiger. A master of seduction, he steals into ladies' bedrooms to relieve them of their valuables, only to capture their hearts in the process.

One night over a plundered safe, she will find herself face-to-face with her rival, instantly spellbound by his smoky gaze. Enticing her with a luring challenge, he brands her with a searing kiss and claims her body as his own. It will not be their last encounter--and she begins to suspect that it was not their first.

Does the Tiger truly have a connection to her painful past? As fate and the ruby bind them on a perilous quest, Kitty will risk her life and freedom. And for a love she never expected to rekindle, she will risk her heart and soul....

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Kitty Fontaine is 19th-century London's Queen of the Skies. By day, she is a world-famous aviatrix, by night a cat burglar now seeking the Blood of India ruby. Her only obstacle is Max "the Tiger" Aveli, another thief after the same prize. Kitty desperately needs the elusive jewel to save her father's life, while Max simply enjoys the thrill of robbing and seduction. When they are both apprehended by Scotland Yard, they are forced to work together to find the ruby. They travel to India, where Kitty was born, and soon they are steeped in local political intrigue, revolution and betrayal. Unable to deny her passion for Max, Kitty must accept that her only chance of survival lies in the hands of the one man she can't trust. O'Neal's (Written in the Stars) skillfully written adventure brims with smoldering sensuality. (Jan.)

5.0 out of 5 stars An adventurous trip to India....., January 22, 2000
By
This review is from: My One and Only (Mass Market Paperback)
Kitty, the "Cat" and "Tiger" meet one night in the home of a wealthy Englishman. Each is searching for a ruby called The Blood of India.

Tiger is actually Max, the adopted son of an Italian count. Kitty is the daughter of an Englishman and his half-Indian wife. Due to a freedom attack on English children, Kitty had left India in fear. Max reminds her of Cameron, a boy she was in love with while she lived in India. She saw Cameron killed; and she has dreamed of him, and India, through the years.

Max and Kitty have an instant attraction. However, their desire for the same stone, will lure them into trouble and a reluctant partnership. Each has a compelling reason to find that stone, The Blood of India. And those reasons will pull them apart. The story itself, will tell us what, if anything, will bring them together.

Max and Kitty are two magnetic leads. Kitty flies planes, is an adventuress, and is engaged to Cameron's half brother. Max is a wealthy womanizer, and adventurer, with a hidden past. His sensual pull, grabbed me, as a reader. I could easily see why Kitty would desire him.

I learned things about India, it's beauty, some of it's history, while reading this book. Ms. O'Neal, herself, lived in India at one time. Combined with the history, is an interesting plot, lots of action, a complete cast of supporting characters, and several sexy love scenes.

This is a book I really enjoyed. I do plan to read it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!, May 16, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: My One and Only (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm a great fan of Katherine O'Neal's books and I absolutely loved this latest addition. As I've come to expect from her books, it's adventurous, witty, has a hero to die for and a heroine that any woman would want to be, and has love scenes that are some of the best and sexiest being written today. I felt as if I'd really been to India after reading her marvelous descriptions. I was completely captivated by the story, and often surprised, which is rare in this genre. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who wants escape, who wants to be transported to a world where love really does conquer all. I couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!, May 23, 2000
This review is from: My One and Only (Mass Market Paperback)
I really loved this book! I read a lot of romance, and after a while, they all start to sound the same. This book surprised and thrilled me. The characters are fresh and different, and their romance is really touching and kept me hooked the whole time. The action is exciting and kept me guessing. After I'd finished it, I felt like I'd really been to India, and that I'd shared in their adventures. The hero is to die for! And the heroine is strong and sassy, but I felt like I'd really known her. I definitely plan to keep this book and read it again and again.
