A Cute (and Fun) Story,
By Butterscotch (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Only Vice (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you like the preview chapter that Amazon shows, you will like the book. The opening chapter is a good indication of the book itself - fast-paced, romantic, and funny. All of the trademark words you might associate with an Elizabeth Bevarly book. The two main characters - Sam and Rosie - are both big-city types who are now living in a small town. The focus of the book was definitely on Sam and Rosie and, while some other townspeople were mentioned, they really weren't developed as characters. Sam and Rosie find love and happiness together despite the fact that Rosie is under suspicion in the town for selling drugs. Their romance was cute and most of the scenes were funny as well. Although not as great as some of Bevarly's longer books, My Only Vice is a quick read, and an enjoyable one.

a great sexy read,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: My Only Vice (Harlequin Blaze) (Kindle Edition)
I really like Ms Bevarlys books-all of them. Some are racier than others and this is probably one of her hotter ones-and I loved it! Keep up the great stories...whether they r racy r not they always have great dialogue, funny and believable characters, a great sense of humor and a great story-she is always an auto buy for me :)

Warning! Many very GRAPHIC sex scenes and little romance.,
By Janet (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Only Vice (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
The first chapter was fun and funny and made me think this was another enjoyable Bevarly book. Then the rest of the book was so overly filled with GRAPHIC sex scenes that the story lost its oomph and there was very little room for humor. The romance went out the window once Sam and Rosie started to have sex and have sex and have sex. And when they weren't having it they were constantly thinking about it. I prefer sex to come as a result of a romantic relationship that was developed in a story instead of the characters falling madly in love after having sex on their first date! And did I mention that it was GRAPHIC? It's no longer titilating when you have to read over and over and over the detailed description of the oral sex by both characters and the many different positions they used. The [...] scenes were a total turn off. As far as the story goes, the ending was a complete let down. I gave this 2 stars for the trademark humor that was injected between sex scenes.

Sex-capades,
By Misuzmama (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Only Vice (Harlequin Blaze) (Mass Market Paperback)
Small town police chief and local flower shop owner practically need to be hosed down by the local fire department with all the graphic sex going on in this one. No story really. Just them thinking about sex and having sex and thinking about sex and having sex ...etc. Jeezus! You'd think you were reading the kamasutra and not some romance book. I know it's Blaze but I've read much better ones than this and they've actually had a story line. This one has a brief side story about illegal drugs thats resolved too quickly.
For a good story with lots of heat read Just Dare Me or Anything For You instead. |
