5.0 out of 5 stars Shame for the short mixes
'On my own' is definitely one of my favourite songs on her latest album. The original ballad version is amazing!!! The other mixes are ok, but it's a shame they didn't put all the thunderpuss remixes on the cd (a similar release like the one for It's not right,...would be amazing). Thunderpuss and whitney are the ones who make the best singer-dj team ever...and they set...

2.0 out of 5 stars Could I have some cheeze on my white bread!
This song was designed to be an anthem of some sort like I Will Survive, but falls short about a thousand paces. It's like a bologna & cheese sandwitch on white bread! I would like to know exactly what Whitney is "trying" on her own? lol
The remix is more tollerable musically, but still the ... same, corny lyric. Next slice from Just Whitney should be One Of Them...

5.0 out of 5 stars Shame for the short mixes, July 16, 2003

'On my own' is definitely one of my favourite songs on her latest album. The original ballad version is amazing!!! The other mixes are ok, but it's a shame they didn't put all the thunderpuss remixes on the cd (a similar release like the one for It's not right,...would be amazing). Thunderpuss and whitney are the ones who make the best singer-dj team ever...and they set new standards for remixing songs in the past with it's not right, but it's ok. I can't believe that the mixes which got her in the number one spot on Billboard Club Charts are only present in an edited version. As for Whitney Houston-releases in general...there was not 1 decent single release in america...ok we saw the promotion but no singles in the shop?? What's that about. In europe it was just the other way around...we saw the singles in the shop, but absolutely no promotion. I could do a better PR job with my eyes closed.I love the thunderpuss full anthem mix....the intro is just mindblowing!! So to the record company people...The audience that loves whitney are the ones who got her into the Billboard club chart...and we want to hear the full mixes!!!! Just a tip.
Overall this import is still worth purchasing because Whitney deserves it....but we deserve the full ANTHEMs !!!

Taken from her good but short but excelent album «Just Whitney...» «On my Own» is a emotive balad produced by the always great Babyface, with an incredible arrangement! With Whitney's voice in an good type this is the best of Whitney's best balads since her last album «mY love is your love»(98).

it got me thinkin 'in «i will always love you». a good song, that i hope it got sucess to make a ignition to lastest wHitney's work , cause she deserve.

Anyone who loves a great ballad performance from a peerless Diva will love "Try To Make It On My Own" and today it would be even more meaningful and compelling to see Whitney Houston perform this tremendous anthem...whenever I hear this powerful song it sends electric currents through my body and takes me into another realm as this performance is magnificent! From the overlooked masterwork "Just Whitney", this great work never stays off my changer for long and the more one plays this engaging musical adventure and gets inside of these great songs and performances the more it becomes clear that Whitney Houston is the greatest singer of her generation and one of the all-time greats!
Bravo Whitney!!!
