4.0 out of 5 stars "The kind of ENEMY i dont mind having", February 21, 2005
This review is from: My Own Worst Enemy (Audio CD)
This album is a little gem. With phat production by PETE ROCK on 7 tracks, with DJ REVOLUTION, SUPREME 1 and DIAMOND D handling the remaining 3 you're guaranteed a tight album. Add that amazing list of producers to such an insightful lyricist as EDO.G and you got quality!! I personally would've preferred to hear EDO on his own alot more than the 4 solo tracks. Even though most of the guests did a good job, especially JAYSHAUN (from the boston crew the kreators), i'd have liked to hear EDO's vivid story-telling and personal viewpoints on life+the rap industry. He always spits s'thing you want+need to hear. The only low point of this is the very average production and completely lacklustre verse from DIAMOND D on "streets is callin'". (where diamond sounds like he's hanging upside down drunk trying to read his lines). However with such soundbombs as "boston", "voices", "school'em", "wishing", "right now!" (my favourite) and the finale "revolution" this is a must for any real rap fan. Not for you jiggy/pimp music lovers, REAL HIPHOP IS BACK!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Album To Finish Out The Year, December 4, 2004
This review is from: My Own Worst Enemy (Audio CD)
This is my first review and it starts with Mr Boston ED O.I have been listening to Hip Hop since 1982 and ED OG since I Got To Have It which Im a proud owner of the album and 12 inch. I already was waiting for this to add to my collection. I have 2 copies of the 12 inch single to Boston and also have the Album and Intramental Album. The funny thing was I went in to Best Buy just looking around to see if they had any copies of the new CD and none in the store. Thats sad because every one needs to listen to him as he has skills and makes me smile because he puts his heart in to it. I have to say the cuts I like on this are Boston,Voices and School EM. Its also nice to hear the Chocolate Boy Wonder Mr PR on here also its a good combo. I will say this anything ED makes people need to support it. Well not bad for my first review oh there will be more I will work on the Grammer and Spelling lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still true after all these years, November 19, 2004
By
This review is from: My Own Worst Enemy (Audio CD)
I have known Edo.G since we were kids in Boston. Now, we are adults in Boston. I have seen him mature from a fun loving teen with the FTI Crew to a grown man making his mark on the world on his own terms. I have also had the pleasure of listening to has music mature as well. It is very refeshing to see an artist stay true to his art. Most of today's rappers are true only to the trend or the fad of the day. They all want to spout off about how they are keeping it "real"... but in fact most are doing just the opposite. Most are being pimped by their record companies, and the allure of money, woman, cars, and fame. That's not what Hip-Hop and rap were all about when it first hit the streets almost 30 years ago.

Edo.G knows this and is still making songs that true fans of rap music want to hear. He is making music that truly speaks of where he comes from and what is really happening both here in Boston and the world.

Edo.G doesn't have the flashy videos and all the Bling of South Africa like some of today's stars; but he still has his integrity as an artist which is far more important.

With that in mind, his music is timeless...trendless... and will be around long after anyone can remember the fads of 2004.

Like a true original, Edo.G's music just keeps getting better, and better. Buy it and see what true rap music is all about.
