Good Mix-,
By pilatesgirl1969 (Denver) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Personal Trainer with Leisa Hart (DVD)
I found this on sale at a local beauty superstore. I came home and read the reviews before I tried it. I will admit, I thought I wasted my money. Boy was I wrong! I was pleasently suprised by how much I liked this workout. The cardio part was exactly what I prefer: a good mix of styles (Yoga, Pilates and some kick-boxing)with organization (I am NOT a step or complex coreography lover). I cannot believe the negative comments-has anyone else ever done a Denise Austin DVD (I lover her, but c'mon) or even Kathy Smith? I think Leisa is terrifc. My arms are so sore from the upper body workout and I just did it! The pilates workout is basic-but it's not bad. I have seen easier pilates programs in some other DVDs that were supposed to be more difficult. All in all, I think this is well worth the money. I have tried a lot of fitness DVDs and this one is well-produced, clear and enjoyable.

Innovative Cardio and Effective 10 Minute Toning Segments!,
By Ashton Leigh (Henderson, Nevada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Personal Trainer with Leisa Hart (DVD)
Great DVD with so many options. Leisa is easy to follow and I adore this DVD! The moves are innovative and different and just plain weird but boy do they work! I was sore for days after doing this whole DVD. I did not like the cardio portion at first. But it really does grow on you and now I love it! It keeps your heart rate up! I would describe as cardio yoga and cardio pilates. I've never seen cardio like this before and I think I didn't like it because it was so different but you really can feel it working your body like nothing I've ever tried before. The music rocks on this DVD sort of like new age spanish rock and I'm addicted to it. The bun and thigh, upper body, abs and pilates portions are excellent and I really felt this the next day! You will think this dvd is very strange at first but give it a shot you will become just as addicted as I am to it! I toned and tightened up so fast using just using this!

I just bought this DVD and am very excited to start on my own weight loss plan. The Personal Trainer section is great and offers many different combinations of the workouts. The pilates and yoga sessions are energizing and relaxing. The cardio workout is a little complicated at first, but I imagine repitition will help. I love the idea of having a different workout every day of the week. And once I get back to my ideal weight, I will still be able to use the video! I'll be able to use the "Take It Easy" or "Mantenance" Programs within the Personal Trainer. I recommend this video to anyone who's bored with walking or stationary workout equipment - I sure was!

A Great Beginner/Intermediate Level Workout,
By A Customer
This review is from: My Personal Trainer with Leisa Hart (DVD)
I just got this workout and I personally like it! I am an intermediate exerciser and I think workout will do well for beginners/intermediate levels. The format of the dvd is very similar to Karen Voight's Sleek Physique (and also Michelle Dozois' 10 Minute Solution) but I like this better because the cardio workout is around 30 mins (including short warmup and cooldown). The low-impact cardio workout has around 3 segments which includes a rather unique dance style workout with flowing movements (not latin dance but more like ballet movements), athletic/kickboxing segment, and a fast paced pilates/yoga segment. A lot of lunges, squats and pulses ( She does a lot of pulses for her toning workouts as well). I wouldn't say that the cardio workout is very intense but I think it is more so than Karen Voight's Sleek Physique (Karen's workout is just around 20 mins cardio, which includes the warmup). However, I like Sleek Physique's yoga better. The additional segments include 10 mins upper body, 10 mins buns and thighs, 10 mins abs, 10 mins pilates (does a few twists and planks), 10 minutes yoga (yoga as stretch, not power yoga). I like the toning workouts because you can easily add intensity by using heavier weights. I believe if you do the entire 80 minute workout, you will get a very good workout. Haven't tried that yet though The first section of the DVD is called Sleek in a Week. You get pre-programmed daily workouts for the entire week. From monday-saturday, the workouts last from 50-60 minutes. For saturday, it's just the 10 minute yoga stretch. It can be repetitious because you are doing the same cardio and toning workouts. The second section of the DVD is called My Personal Trainer. It also contains pre-programmed daily workouts (using the same cardio and toning workouts)for the entire week but targets different fitness goals. So the choices are Body Blast, Bun Blast, Upper Body Blast, Awesome Abs, Stress Reduction, Mind Body, Time Saver, Fit It In, Take It Easy, Maintenance Plan and Customize Your Own Workout. Leisa works out alone in a studio with some workout equipments as decor on each side of the studio (including her videos on display ). Music is pleasant and instrumental; not annoying at all. But I wish the dvd had a music-off option so I can play my own; it only has the music-only option. It's my first time to try Leisa and I like her. She is friendly, explains the movements clearly and cues very well. DVD includes nutrition program with recipes from The Rose Program (first time I heard about it). www.theroseprogram.com. This is an excellent DVD for beginners and intermediates.

Leisa Hart is THE fitness guru for me! I loved her FITMAMA prenatal video when I was prego last year, then loved her FITMAMA Postnatal videos. I liked her even more when I was shedding more pounds and toning up even more with her new FIT TO THE CORE videos, which I LOVE, and now she comes out with an absolutely fantastic DVD called GYM IN A BOX. You have six different workout sessions you can blend together; with 80 minutes of exercise to CHOOSE from, you can always find something you are in the mood for, and i don't mean chocolate ice cream or french fries! The DVD is neatly put together with a "Sleek In A Week" program that is a one week concentrated fitness regime wher you can lose a dress size in a week, or the "My Personal Trainer" section has all the workouts to choose from(like a 30 minute Fat Blast cardio, 10 minutes Awesome Abs, 10 mins Buns Blast, 10 min's pilates, 10 min's yoga, etc). It is by far the best dvd I have ever owned and it will keep me challenged and on a wonderful path to great health for a lifetime. LEISA HART is amazing, and this DVD is so motivating and powerful, i loved it, and so will anyone else that gets it!

This is an awful video...,
This review is from: My Personal Trainer with Leisa Hart (DVD)
There is no order to the workout. It's actually more comical than physical and the pace doesn't even seem like it's something Leisa is comfortable with. She doesn't initially repeat what the movements are, just refers to the random names she has assigned them. She is generally finsihed with the step before telling you what it is. It's absurd. I don't know how this thing got produced--it's terrible. It's as if it's a SNL skit on aerobics.

Don't waste your money OR time!,

I work out quite often and use a variety of different DVDs to stay fit. This is the only one that I absolutely cannot follow. I am literally lost within about 5 seconds. She uses very elaborate moves in the cardio section without any demonstration or warning beforehand. Unless you want to be utterly frustrated, I recommend passing on this one.

I think it is a very good workout - fun, versatile, with an interesting choreography ( I do admit, though, that I did not get all the moves upon first watching, but that should not put you off ). The instructor is upbeat and encouraging without being irritating. Highly recommended.

i really liked the style of moves leisa hart performed in this dvd, they were not your ordinary moves from grapevines and side steps, she does a variety of pilates and yoga moves that seem to flair together with some ballet inspired moves, all of which are great for the entire body...i loved this dvd and have really loved the results, my body is looking great and my husband loves the bikinis i am wearing at the pool!

This review is from: My Personal Trainer with Leisa Hart (DVD)
Great variety for a fitness video, you can pick and choose the routines you want to do, you have 80+ minutes of routines that are easily taught and easy to learn; the cardio and the toning and non-traditional, which i love. If i want to lift weights, i can go to the gym, but this is not like that, it is a mix of flowly yoga, pilates, and cardio and toning moves that blend well together. YOu have to be open to learning something new, and you will be rewarded with a great, intense muscular feel, you will feel refreshed and toned. I highly recommend this dvd to all my friends at weight watchers, it is very good.
