An okay book, but not great.,

My son does love this book, but as far as its purpose goes, it falls far short of expectations. There is almost no focus on the purpose of a potty at all. I had hoped that the photographs would be helpful, but they are very cute, posed, and lack the body parts involved in the actual process of using the toilet. There is only one page that even mentions the prohibited bodily functions. I don't enjoy the choice of wording, and it feels like a cheap attempt by a publishing company to get a book out of as few pictures and words as possible. Inexpensive to make, yes, but helpful to toilet-training parents? An emphatic no.

This book is a favorite of my 20 month old son's because of the pictures as well as the manner in which I read it, emphasizing how silly it is to use the potty as a toy box, hat, etc. However, it is unclear to me whether he is actually getting the point of the book, or if he just likes the pictures and the way I read it. I think most potty books for boys will fall short to a degree because none are daring enough to show anatomy or discuss the standing vs. sitting issues. However, having a few of these books around can only help and certainly can't hurt. I will say that in comparison to our other potty book which has more detail regarding the process as well as cute drawings, it does not hold my son's attention the way this one does.

A good first book,
This review is from: My Potty Book: For Boys (Board book)
If you want to start talking about potty training with your son, this is a good first book. It shows a few boys in diapers looking at a potty and trying to figure out what it is. Then it gives a basic overview of what to do when you go potty. The numerous images of boys may help your son see this is a normal thing all boys do.
If you've already started using the potty or your child knows what a potty seat is, this book will not be very useful to you.

The book itself is ok but for my 2,5 year old son was too late (it says it's for ages 4 and up). At this age they understand everything showed in the book but they are old enough to resist potty training voluntarily for their own reasons. If your baby was not introduced to potty training at all- you might want to consider this book. But if you already started some basics- it's too late for this book.
About the seller- it took forever to receive it and some pages were dirty.

My son will not go potty without this book. He's only 2 and not really potty-trained but since he expressed an interest, we decided to oblige. He would take his sister's version of this book to the training potty so we got him the boy version. Surprisingly, he likes it better. There is no anatomical difference in the books. Really, one is blue with pictures of boys and the other is pink with pictures of girls. It is not a particularly informative book so I was disappointed when I got my daughter the girl-version of this book. But, both children loved them. They make going to the potty sound like fun instead of serious or informative.

We're just beginning.,

I'm just beginning to talk about potties with my 17 month old. I want to take it really slow because family members have had a very hard time training their children. He loves this book. We read it over and over. I bought a potty chair and now he enjoys sitting on it and is becoming more aware of what he's doing, if you know what I'm saying.
