5.0 out of 5 stars Great Activity Gym
My little one is 2.5 months old and loves this gym already. We have the Fisher Price Under Water Activity Gym also. This is a small comparison of the two.

1. The FP Gym connects with velcro, this one links the toys down. She bats at the toys pretty hard and with the FP one we are afraid because of the velcro that they will fall on her, this one does not...

2.0 out of 5 stars Chintzy, and unsafe if baby can push up onto hands and knees
This product is a lot less sturdy in real life than it appears online. A stiff breeze could probably blow it over! And certainly a swift kick or a strong yank from even a petite 6-month-old (like my baby girl) could cause this Activity Play Gym to topple over, possibly onto baby's face/head.

What's more, the manufacturer's recommended age for this product is...

My little one is 2.5 months old and loves this gym already. We have the Fisher Price Under Water Activity Gym also. This is a small comparison of the two.

1. The FP Gym connects with velcro, this one links the toys down. She bats at the toys pretty hard and with the FP one we are afraid because of the velcro that they will fall on her, this one does not have that problem.

2. Both have similar toys...one with balls in it, a mirror, and a basic toy. All of which I think are important for learning.

3. The FP turns into a tunnel, obviously this does not but it is decently structured and won't "pop out" like the FP does in some reviews.

4. The toys on this one are able to vary at different heights as our little one grows. The FP one is static because of the velcro link.

5. Great value for money on this one, I like all the colors and functionality of the toys and my child does too.

I would recommend this one highly and also compare what you want based on your needs to other play gyms. They all have different pros and cons.

Update: 9/25/10 This one is absolutely wonderful. We hang her favorite toys from the rings (can't do this with the velcro one) and we drag it with us everywhere we go. It isn't as portable as others but it's worth it. She also tries to grab the toys with her feet, it's a great height and we adjust toys by taking off or adding on the connecting rings.

This product is a lot less sturdy in real life than it appears online. A stiff breeze could probably blow it over! And certainly a swift kick or a strong yank from even a petite 6-month-old (like my baby girl) could cause this Activity Play Gym to topple over, possibly onto baby's face/head.

What's more, the manufacturer's recommended age for this product is 6+ months, but the box has a warning on it stating that this toy should be removed when baby begins to push up on hands and knees, to avoid a risk of entanglement. Although my baby isn't crawling yet, she's been pushing up on her hands and knees since she was 5-and-a-half months old. Therefore, this toy was completely useless for us from the get-go. And given that many babies begin pushing up onto their hands and knees around 5-8 months, in reality, this product is likely to have very limited utility for the majority of parents and their little-ones. IMHO, $29.95 seems a bit steep of a price to pay for a toy that you can only use for a month or two at best. Unfortunately, the Amazon listing for the Activity Play Gym doesn't include a picture of the box (with the above warning on it), otherwise I never would've bought this product in the first place.

Needless to say, I'll be returning it.

I watch my 7 week old granddaughter frequently, and she is often fussy because she is bored.
I wanted to buy her a baby gym because my own daughter had really liked hers. When I went shopping I found that the prices are outrageous !
I have not seen this at any other stores. Or anything like it.
I decided to take a chance and buy this one.
It is simple, no fancy mat, no music or sounds. But I like it better that way. I put on my own music while she plays and lay her on a comforter on the floor, and set the Play Gym over her so she can bat at the toys.
It has a mirror that is angled so she can see her face while on her back. This seems to be her favorite.
I also like it because I can add other toys to it and change things up.
I am very happy with this purchase, and my daughter wants one for her house as well !

We bought this gym instead of a set with a mat, we were looking for something that could be placed in the crib, placed on the floor on a blanket, or used wherever. We also wanted something we could change out the toys. This accomplishes all that!! She started using it at 2 months old and we are still using it at 5 months (though it is starting to get a little old). We frequently change out the toys with other toys we have, and have used the toys it comes with both with the gym, and also just as normal toys she plays with. It seems a bit pricey for being plastic, but it is cheaper than some of the other options and has certainly been worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars STILL not bored with it!, August 1, 2011

This toy was a great thing to buy! And it is a big thing to say when you are a first time parent and you try to be sensible and not to buy all the plastic junk that is out there and are said to be "absoulutely neccessery" for your baby's development...
So we got it when our son was 2 months old, and he immediately started playing with it. Now he is 7 months and he still (!) loves this thing. He is exploring every bit of it, dragging it around with him, so funny :-) It is also fun for him now that he can sit in front of it.
Definitely recommend it.
Also, I prefer it to the play mats that has the toys hanging down fixed to the play mat - that can be in the way, and this one is just so easy to move around.
There was a "funny" warning in the product manual: not suitable for kids under 3... Well, it does have three beads in one of the toys hanging down. We risked it... It proved to be safe and sturdy - or son has been giving it a hard time kicking and hitting it around.

This is just what I was looking for. Baby can lay under it and use either her hands or her feet. She can also sit up in her bouncer or bumbo seat and have this in front of her to play with. The toys can be switched with ones you already have to keep it new and exciting. I love this and wish we'd had one for our older child. For her, we sort of rigged our own by unsnapping the arches from her Gymini. This works much better. The only drawback is that the price is pretty high compared to other plastic toys, although I know that plastic goods are pretty cheap overall, so I can't really complain.

You may be interested to know that we really did receive the aqua blue one pictured on the main page, and not the less attractive white one pictured when you put it in your cart. Yay!

I like this gym because it is simple. My 3-month-old daughter plays with it for hours. It is my experience that babies don't like the gyms that have lots of flashing lights and music. The only negative thing about this is that it isn't very sturdy. It's not such a big deal, since all a baby does is hit the toys from beneath. If I had payed 15 or 20 dollars for it, I would be fine with it. However, if I'm going to pay 35 dollars for something, I expect it to be better quality.

I had one of these for my first child 13 years ago. We purchased this for my 3 month old and gave it to him today. HE LOVES IT! I was very surprised how active he became when we put him under it. He played for 30+ minutes and giggled with joy.

I was looking for a kick toy that was not attached to a mat. This was much easier to move from one location to next. I was hoping it would provide a growing baby the option to stand but its not quite sturdy enough to do that on. Its height is nice and versatile however since you can adjust the toys with toy rings to be higher or lower. Kids loved this toy and its fun and different then all the others. Very cute toys and side toys on the cross bar. Those were almost the favorites. Love this toy!

We really wanted a baby gym for our son but most of them now come with attached quilts and a battery powered thingy and some other toys and whatever. We have quilts and toys, we just wanted a simple frame that he could sit under and play with, and this does a great job.
