Editorial Reviews

Review

"The ability to write clearly and concisely about the things that happen to you and around you is a great gift. Most of us don't have it; Bill Martin very obviously does. My Prostate and Me is a book about love and fear, family and friends, risks and decisions. Ultimately, it is also about travel along a road which still has an unknown ending--but a road which now stretches out into the future in a way that it did not on the day the author received his diagnosis....Bill Martin's ability to integrate all these diverse elements together with accurate scientific and medical information about the highly controversial aspects of prostate cancer and its management makes this book a valuable and recommended contribution to the patient-oriented literature on prostate cancer." -- E. Michael D. Scott, CoMed Cancer InfoLink

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent description of the road to decision for PC, October 4, 1999

This review is from: My Prostate and Me: Dealing with Prostate Cancer (Hardcover)
Bill Martin does an excellent job of describing the events one encounters when diagnosed with PC. He does it in layman terms and with subtle humor. I've been there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must reading for all young geezers over fifty, April 20, 1998
This review is from: My Prostate and Me: Dealing with Prostate Cancer (Hardcover)

Anyone who's been caught by anyone who's had an operation (Did I show you my scar?) knows it's not fun to sit and listen to the details. Martin's style and insight makes you look forward to it, especially since this tome involves so much more.

You'll be enlightened to learn how medical science has advanced in the treatment of this disease, be fearful in the way it can sneak up on you, and be committed to annual prostate exams from the moment you put it down. But before you do, you'll have laughed (and cried) out loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book was excellent, October 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: My Prostate and Me: Dealing with Prostate Cancer (Hardcover)
My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer last winter, and we were given a copy of this book by a friend. We read and re-read it over and over. It was an excellent way to learn and discuss what was happening, and to learn what was going to happen. I highly reccommend it to anyone in this situation.
