The Book that Never was,

This is the book that never was. Publication dates have varied since 1999. First 2000, then 2002, finally 2006. It has never been published, and no explanation has been forthcoming. If you noodle around the NewSouth Books web site you can find excerpts of several chapters, and the reading is worth it. This would have been an excellent addition to the story of China's struggle during the Second World War. Perhaps a write-in campaign might move NewSouth to get it going? 12/26/2009 UPDATE: NewSouth has removed the chapter excepts and all references to book from their site. Sad...
