A Feast for the eyes!,
By
This review is from: My Sexiest Mistake (Harlequin Blaze) (Paperback)
Loved this book so much! Cade and Ryan are really awesome characters. Their sudden meeting and the misunderstanding of that night turn into a wonderful foundation for the rest of the story. The sex scenes are sexy and very hot! I will really try some if these options! Still, for some reason...I kind of wish that Cade would have had to suffer more to get her back. Yeah, I am always waiting for mysterious strangers to try to sweep the heroine off her feet as the hero tries to make up for his screw up. I also recommend Whisper by Nancy Warren and The SEAL's Surprise Baby by Amy J. Fetzer.

Part time romance author Ryan Donnelly would dearly love to trade her career as a corporate trainer for writing full time. Unfortunately, her own life experience has prepared her for little more than writing simple, sweet romances. Now her must write the steamier versions of romance if she wants to make the transition. One inept experience eight years ago does not provide the needed inspiration. So her agent persuades her to hire a gigolo to cater to her needs. But a case of mistaken identity leads her the bedroom with the wrong man...who turns out to be perfect; that is, until she realizes her horrendous mistake.Four years after his divorce and sexy Cade Douglas still goes home alone. So when a sensually delightful woman presents herself, he cannot resist the invitation to her room. Even as he realizes he is not the man she requires, Cade cannot walk away from such a luscious opportunity. He promises her to explain when they meet a second time, but the outraged Ryan has her own plans. Realizing her mistake, Ryan seduces Cade into allowing her tie him to the bedposts, takes her pleasure, and leaves him partially bound and his clothes lying in a tub of water. Of course they meet again weeks later, in a professional environment, and then things get real interesting! You've got to love a woman daring enough to use a man for her pleasure and then leave him bound to the bedposts. Of course he can eventually free himself, but not until she's made her point. Moreover, you've also got to love a man so determined to satisfy! Ryan and Cade are the kinds of characters romance readers adore, showing tremendous growth and change, hearts of gold, and a real pizzazz for sensuality. Secondary characters likewise sparkle. Ryan's gravelly-voiced agent and her new love will bring smiles as well. Debut author Kristin Hardy's own impetuously spontaneous nature dazzles in MY SEXIEST MISTAKE. She admits MY SEXIEST MISTAKE was inspired by her attendance at a writers' conference. She plotted out this Blaze novel on the plane home and wrote the draft of Chapter One that night. Harlequin wisely bought this outstanding new voice, and her subsequent three book will be released by Blaze in 2003. Hardy is definitely a rising star to watch for. MY SEXIEST MISTAKE comes very highly recommended.

A Definite Romance Read,

I received the book by mail. That is a really great book. The passionate yet sexy love scenes kinda make you want to have dreams at night. My favorite part was when Ryan and Cade were making love in a warm bath in the bathtub. An intense, steamy romance novel.

Not Bad, but it didn't grab me.,

I was oddly enough, not as captured as other readers by this book. It was strongly written and had some interresting, though slightly sterotyped supporting characters. It took me almost a week to get around to finishing this book, and usually it takes me less than a day for books like this.
Ryan as a character I found at times problematic, very very strong when she is certain of her anonimity she becomes weaker as soon as Cade knows who she is. I was not comforable with the bed tying scene, mostly because Cade throughout and after the scene also expressed his own discomfort, it was rather too close to rape. It was intriguing to see her interactions with her parents, as they were very untypical, she almost shared every detail of her sexual encounters with them, without a bat of an eye. Her lousy previous relationship is mentioned several times but quickly left unexplained. Something that was so huge to her except for the few weeks the book took place, I think deserved a bit more explaination. Cade I enjoyed, even with his sterotypical 'I can't hurt her' mantra. His obliviousness to what she thinks he is (a gigilo) when they first meet to his dawning is pretty amusing and is perhaps one of the best scenes of the book. Oddly enough most of the book is not steamy bedroom scenes, the two biggest scenes take place very early on and are used to move the plot forward (an applaudable novelty). After those it is acknowledged they have sex but it isn't spelled out for the reader. Which is fine with me, the scenes they do have are interesting. I did get a little bored with all of the business that was going on, though Hardy writes it beleivably. I did think it was a bit funny, slightly metaromance, to make Ryan a romance novel writer. It reminded me of another book I read recently "The Boyfriend School."

the book, better than the movie,

I have to say that just from reading the reviews, the book sounds much more interesting than the movie version that was released in 2004 on the "OXYGEN" network.

It's No Mistake to Read My Sexiest Mistake,
By A Customer
This review is from: My Sexiest Mistake (Harlequin Blaze) (Paperback)
My Sexiest Mistake is a catchy, fun read with plenty of steamy encounters and snappy banter. The author comes up with a very clever "mistaken identity" hook to introduce the gorgeous heroine, Ryan Donnelly, to "delectable" Boston businessman Cade Douglas, and the fact that Ryan wants to quit her day job and write romance novels full time is a nifty twist. A perfect escape read for those "dog days" of summer!

enjoyable gender war,
This review is from: My Sexiest Mistake (Harlequin Blaze) (Paperback)
Beckham Markham corporate trainer Ryan Donnelly hates her profession as she prefers to be a full time romance author. However, she will never make the transition because she has no life experience to write the sensual, almost erotic tales, that are needed for success. The best she can generate are sweet tales that Harlequin fans would have thought were tame back in the fifties. Her agent tells her if she really desires to switch careers, she needs sexual experience. Her only encounter was almost a decade ago and that was not anything to right home about let alone use in a sexy novel. She hires a stud, but errs and ends up in the wrong bed, that of lonely divorcee Bostonian Cade Douglas. Unable to resist the lure of a score, Cade fails to tell his hostess the truth until their next encounter. An irate Ryan realizes she has been had. She seduces Cade senseless, ties him to the bedposts, and has her way with him before leaving him to his own devices. However, a few weeks later, they meet in a corporate boardroom. Though Ryan may struggle with turning on the heat in her novels, debut author Kristin Hardy does not seem to have that problem as she enflames the pages of her tale. Romance readers will positively relish Ryan's turning the tables or is it the sheets on Ryan. Though the hiring of a male stud may turn off some readers, most fans of the Blaze imprint will enjoy the gender war between two wonderful protagonists. Harriet Klausner

Cade and Ryan-SPOILERS,
By
This review is from: My Sexiest Mistake (Harlequin Blaze) (Paperback)
Favorite scene with Ryan-
Saving Cade by having dinner with him and his clients. Favorite scene with Cade- Patrick telling Cade not to let Ryan go. Together- Cade hurting Ryan by wanting to end things with her. What did you like about Ryan- That she wrote romance novels. She was good at her work at the company. She was brilliant when it came to business. What didn't you like about Ryan- There wasn't really anything I didn't like about Ryan, although I didn't really like how she was allowing Helene to control her by telling her to get some experience in order to get published. In this day and age, that's dangerous. What did you like about Cade- His love for his work, and for Ryan, although he didn't realize he loved her until it was almost too late. What didn't you like about Cade- That he hurt Ryan because of his childhood. If I had to cast Ryan, I'd cast Gwyneth Paltrow. |
