Once again Tara has plastered a permanent smile on my face. My Side rocks with it's resident bad boy Lochlan and sweet girl next door Erin. With a leasing fiasco and bear spray in hand, Erin and Lochlan learn about each other whilst trying to balance one another out.
Tara has weaved an incredibly deep yet humourous tale of finding love and use of bear spray in Boston =)
Pick up your copy of My Side and prepare to laugh your arse off!
Again a true love story!

From the Author

This is my first romance novel... It's not my thing. I won't lie. I hope you like it. There is no weirdness or strange sex. No cliffhanger and no sequel. NO companion novel... Do not even ask!!! Just a happily ever after.

Ohhhh and no love triangle. That's right b@#$5^s... I did it.

This book was a challenge for me. I like all those other things in my books. This was harder. My female lead is weaker than any I have ever written. She is insecure and shallow, you're meant to not like her. The whole thing was written for me by me to make me happy.

But I still really hope you like it!! I have a lady parts crush on Lochlan myself... wow. Yummy. I am actually going to be booking some concert time in the next few months because I need to see some sexy men perform for me after this book. Yes, yes I do.

If you didn't like it don't worry, my normal books of weird sex and strange bouts of darkness will be back in a few weeks!!!

Thanks for giving it a chance!!

More About the Author

Split personalities? I won't rule it out.
A little crazy? Possibly.
Boring? NEVER!

I am the award-winning, international bestselling mystery writer, Tara Brown--but that's not all. Some days I'm the cook, others I'm the maid, but mostly I'm the chauffeur to my two darling girls. Oh, and I'm always the dog trainer and cat wrangler. And on some occasions, I fancy myself a bit of a con artist--I believe I have my husband convinced that changing kitty litter is bad for women.

I love hearing from people. Feel free to join the conversation over at www.facebook.com/TaraBrownAuthor, or email me at tarabrownauthor@hotmail.com

THE QUESTION I GET THE MOST, WHY SEPARATE YOUR BOOKS BY PEN NAMES?

The reason I separate the names is because of the Young Adult following I have and new readers to me. Because I cross between adult and young adult, I have to have safe places for the young adult readers to find new books. Also, if you are just looking for regular romance or only like paranormal or erotica, then we have a brand just for you! Here is a breakdown of my genres and pen names--even I get confused.

TARA BROWN - My main page and essentially my brand. Books published under Tara Brown will be mostly suspenseful romance and mystery. Blood and Bone, The Lonely, and The Single Lady Spy Series are among those. Not all are intended for young readers. Crimson Cove Mysteries is a Tara Brown read, romantic suspense and mystery, and it is Young Adult.

Tara Brown writing as AE WATSON - My pen name for the majority of my Young Adult books. This is a safe haven. Here you will find, BORN, HERE, The Seventh Day, White Girl Problems, The Light Trilogy, Vengeance, etc. This is my page that is safe for YA readers of a mature reading level who enjoy a wide variety of genres. I do not write for people who don't like a little suspense with a lot of fighting and a heavy dose of sarcasm. Also there are love triangles and cliffhangers and other annoying things. I am a jerk when it comes to revealing all the answers at once. I like figuring out puzzles and assume everyone else does too.

Tara Brown writing as ERIN LEIGH - New Adult Romance and Chick Lit. Recommended reading age is eighteen and over, as there is some sexual content. If you enjoy reading other New Adult, you should be fine. But it is romance, romance, romance.

Tara Brown writing as TL BROWN - Adult Paranormal, Science Fiction, and Fantasy. TL IS NOT FOR YOUNG READERS AT ALL! These books are for the people who love Science Fiction and Fantasy. They are all Romance based but very paranormal or science fiction or fantasy.

Tara Brown writing as SOPHIE STARR - Adult Only Erotica. I like to call Sophie my porn handle. SHE IS NOT FOR YOUNG READERS AT ALL! I am ashamed but not enough to stop writing them, so more to follow I am sure.

Hope you have a great day and, of course, happy reading!

Tar

xoxo

I really liked the story and the way it was written, it was sweet, super angsty, and even sad. I liked their relationship and especially the way it started, the whole build up of the friendship first, and you could honestly see how they would fall in love. I liked most of the characters, but what I didn't like was Erin, she was super annoying, I know running was her thing and she had a reason for it, but for crying out loud it was too much. But I liked how others called her out on it and didn't treat her like she was never at fault.

She's the reason for the four stars, but also because of the grammatical errors. I think it was written well from a story telling point, but the grammatical errors were bad. I don't normally point that out because like I've said before, I don't write books, but sometimes there were clearly words missing, and there was even a scene (that I won't say because it's kind of a big point in the book) where I got lost and I had to read it a couple of times.

But will I still recommend this book? Absolutely, those couple of faults should be looked past because it was a good story.

This story is told from Erin's point of view. She has just arrived in Boston to start law school, and finds a man (Lochlan) having sex in her apartment. Some bear mace and a police incident later, she finds out that they both signed a lease to the same place, and agree to live in the same apartment until one or the other find another place. Long story short, they end up staying together because they become good friends, and then something more.

Erin starts out as being described as very career oriented and determined to be a lawyer. She's organized and detail and a hard core planner, and likes her personal space. This all seems to go out the window with Lochlan. For most of the story it kind of irritated me how much of a pushover she was and how much she let him influence her decisions since she was described as being so strong willed and independent. Almost to the end, she DOES finally stand up for herself and take back her life, but then (and it doesn't exactly say this), but it seems like she ends up giving up her career for him anyway... not sure how I feel about that exactly.

Lochlan was the hot rock star, the sweet loving boyfriend, the angry jealous RAGING BEAST, the considerate and kind teddy bear, and the forever apologising regretful boyfriend. He kind of gave me whiplash with his mood swings and he reminded me of Remington Tate (from Katy Evan's 'Real'). I swore he has some kind of personality disorder or something but apparently not. He was raised to put family first and is torn at times between his music career and trying to make his relationship work with Erin.

I feel like Lochlan changed at the end. He was suddenly less angry, and more understanding and loving and less controlling.

First of all I think the author needs to go look up the definition for ADHD as soon as possible because she has CLEARLY mistaken it with sociopathic rage. WTF is up with everyone (and I do mean everyone) being perfectly at ease at the main character's rage issues? His girlfriend has to constantly check herself and measure her words because heaven forbid the idiot "looses" it and tears up a room. I think he trashed their apartment twice? Even her own brother is cool with his sister dating a sociopath. The female character has already been in abusive relationship and obviously never learned to read the signs.

I am so sick of reading books where people confuse "alpha manliness" with serious rage issues. When did it become sexy that your "man" gets so jealous that he threatens to murder someone and that makes us swoon?

I blame the inexplicable success of 50 shades for this crap. All of a sudden we see these controlling psychos and that's supposed to be a turn on? Seriously at one point she leaves the apartment "despite Loch forbidding me to" and thinks this is normal.

Books like these should come with parental advisory labels, to prevent teens from thinking this kind of ABUSIVE behavior is romantic. I only managed to finish the book to see if they got psychological help-of course not. Instead we get an unplanned pregnancy that magically solves things. Like that would ever work in real life. The whole premise is seriously disturbing.

Lastly to add insult to injury, it was riddled with grammatical mistakes! Seriously people, save that $0.99 and go read something else!

Excellent rockstar read. I loved it since the beginning. It was hilarious how they met. Excellent write on both characters, building them and their backgrounds. Just waiting for the initial hook up was hot and sexy! There was of course the normal run around from the heroine and of course the groupies (what rockstar read doesn't involve this) but it wasn't to the point of annoying. Definately reccomend to those you may not be all about the rockstar reads, as this is typically me. This is a "lighter" rockstar read...if you don't like these types of reads because the groupies, cheating and drugs can be too much for you, this is a good one to start with as it only has groupies...
