She's not who she says she is! Tory Evans is living her sister's life. Christine is dead, murdered by Tory's vengeful ex-husband, and now--for her own survival--Tory has taken on Christine's identity. Her name, her job, her new home in Shelter Valley, Arizona.

He's intrigued by one of his professors, the woman he knows as Christine Evans. She's smart, she's beautiful--and she's hiding something. She's also off-limits.

5.0 out of 5 stars This author is one of category romance's best, November 20, 2000
This review is from: My Sister, Myself: Shelter Valley Stories (Harlequin Superromance No. 949) (Paperback)
Tory divorced the physically and mentally abusive Bruce, but her obsessive former husband refused to let her go. To insure she belongs to know one but him, Bruce kills Tory. Only he murdered her sister Christine instead, but the authorities made a mistake in identification. Knowing that if Bruce learns he killed the wrong Evans he will come after her, a guilt wracked, grieving Tory adopts Christine's identity and heads to Shelter Valley, Arizona to teach English at Montford University.

Ben Sanders arrives at Shelter Valley seeking to start over after a bitter divorce with his former wife who claims their child, who Ben loves, is not biologically his. Ben looks forward to finally starting college though it is eight years since he planned to actually first attend. However, he is not prepared for the attraction he feels towards his English professor. "Christine" reciprocates, but fears revealing the truth, which may end a potentially loving relationship before it can truly begin.

MY SISTER, MYSELF is a powerful romantic suspense work that centers on the full range of impact that an obsessive relationship has on everyone around it. The story line succeeds due to the fantastic characterization of "Christine". The lead female protagonist feels culpability for her sibling's death and for hiding the truth from her beloved Ben, but her fear of Bruce supersedes everything including love. Thus, through this incredible depiction, Tara Taylor Quinn provides a great entry to the Shelter Valley series that should bring the author accolades and honors.

This review is from: My Sister, Myself: Shelter Valley Stories (Harlequin Superromance No. 949) (Paperback)
This book is a story about a town called Shelter Valley.

Christine and Tory were sisters who looked a lot alike. They had an abusive past and Tory continued the pattern by marrying an abuser. Unfortunately her ex tracked them down just as Christine and Tory where escaping him and managed to kill Christine.

Ben Sanders comes to Shelter Valley to get to know the family he never met. He is a descendant of Samuel Monford, who founded the town. He also wants to go to college after having to forgo it to marry his pregnant girlfriend (whose daughter really is not his)

Tory is worried about her ex Bruce finding her so she pretends to be Christine. She decides to teach Christine's college English Classes even though she never went to college. In one of her classes is Ben. They strike up a friendship but Ben thinks that Christine is hiding something.

During the semester Ben gets periodic calls from the girl he raised as his daughter. Her biological father does not treat her well and it just gets worse over Christmas.

Ben and Tory (as Christine) get married so that Ben can gain custody of his daughter, but shortly afterward she finds out that Bruce killed himself and Ben finds out her secret.
