As in all her books, Guenther finds new ways to explore these ancient themes with the wit and practicality of an accomplished storyteller. These eight meditations can be read consecutively over the course of a single day or weekend, or spaced over time with periods of reflection in between. Each meditation ends with ideas for further prayer and pondering. Now a full-time spiritual director and retreat and conference leader, she is the author of Holy Listening: The Art of Spiritual Direction, Toward Holy Ground: Spiritual Directions for the Second Half of Life, and The Practice of Prayer.

From her rich experience as priest and spiritual director Margaret Guenther has written reflections on Psalm 62 which begins, "For God alone my soul in silence waits; from him comes my salvation." In the introduction the author uses the life of Jesus to illustrate by example the need to "Come Away and Rest". In our hectic and sometimes meaningless busyness, we forget the need for quiet, reflection and prayer. Eight meaningful meditations on the psalm complete with questions for "Prayer and Pondering" provide an opportunity for personal retreat and rest. The format could also be used by a small group of pilgrims to learn together the power of quiet and reflection.
