John Evans is an experienced writer who brings clarity and readability to all his work. Beyond that, John brings Scripture to his readers. And he brings it where they live. This book is relevant to every reader who wants to honor God with what God allows us to use for a while. I recommend John's work in this book and his other titles. Excellent for class work as well as personal devotion. Preachers will use it!

Format: Paperback
I have read about a dozen books focusing on the need for Christians to simplify our lives and avoid debt, but none has been so steeped in Scripture and presented so nonjudgmentally yet powerfully as John Evans' "My Stuff and I..." I particularly like the chapter differentiating between wants and needs, something that is difficult to teach our children because most of us haven't yet learned it ourselves. Upon finishing this book, rather than feeling deprived and constrained by what the Bible tells us about possessions, I feel a sense of freedom. I look forward to becoming unencumbered, armed for the challenge of walking through an electronics department and shunning the latest gadgets and "toys." I have a new respect for my prepaid cell phone that does nothing but allow me to make and receive telephone calls. "My Stuff and I..." is suitable for individual and group study. It will make a terrific gift for anyone struggling to live the Christian life as shown to us in Scripture.
