5.0 out of 5 stars If you like great music in small packages....
Firstoff I have to express my obsession for Goldfrapp, and as you know, they scored this film. However, THEIR SCORE IS VERY, VERY SHORT on the album-DO NOT BE FOOLED-but if you are a fan like me, it is definitely worth the price. On "Mona and Tamsin on a Rock" Alison even adds about 4 seconds of new vocals that immediately send chills down the body. Her voice is angelic...

1.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't know, never got it....
I did not receive my product. A month later I email them asking when I should receive it, if they knew where it was. I got an "oops" and a "it was lost in the mail". This does NOT meet the expectations I have when I order off of Amazon.

On "Mona and Tamsin on a Rock" Alison even adds about 4 seconds of new vocals that immediately send chills down the body. Her voice is angelic. So besides the excellent score, "The Swan" is a great moving track. I live in a little hick-town and probably won't get to see the movie until it's released on DVD. But I read the book and it was nothing short of amazing. I hoped this helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SOUNDTRACK, January 13, 2006

The soundtrack for the engaging movie My Summer of Love is very, very good indeed! What amazing variety! Just what many good soundtracks embrace. Here you find the atmospheric soundscapes by Goldfrapp, as well as wonderful classical pieces that some of the younger set may not know (Saint-Saens, Mozart, Borodin...), mixed in with works by The Pretenders, Blonde Redhead(Rock), Julie London(Jazz) Caetano Veloso(Brazilian), and Edith Piaf(French). Really fun listening. And nice to have seen the movie to relate the sound with the image. Some of the pieces on disc are different than those used in the film and this is OK with me. In the movie the performance of The Swan is not so great. On the CD it is a wonderful performance of this well known gem. There have been some rather poor reviews of this soundtrack that seem due to the fact that those reviewers were hoping for a Goldfrapp only release. For those of you who cannot get enough of Goldfrapp I recommend that you do what I did. Order Felt Mountain as well as this fantastic release. But whatever you do...do not miss the My Summer of Love soundtrack.
Some of my other favorite soundtracks include: A Farewell To Maria(Tomasz Stanko), Cinema Paradiso(Morricone), The Falcon and the Snowman(Metheny), Amarcord(Rota/Willner), Afterglow(Isham), The 25th Hour(Blanchard), The Accompanist(various classical), High Art(Shudder To Think), The Map of the World(Metheny), Backbeat(Was/Blanchard), Selmasongs(Bjork), Passaggio per il Paradiso(Metheny), 1996(Sakamoto), Until The End of the World(various rock), Faraway, So Close(various rock), Fireworks/Hana-Bi(Hisaishi), Alexei and the Spring(Sakamoto), thirty two short films about GLENN GOULD(various classical), The Million Dollar Hotel(various rock), Twin Peaks(Badalamenti), the princess + the warrior(various rock), Nenette et Boni(Tindersticks), no fear, no die(Abdullah Ibrahim), Ascenseur Pour l'Echafaud(Miles), Anatomy of a Murder(Ellington), Stay Awake-Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films(Willner with various artists)....

2.0 out of 5 stars Six Minutes of New Music???, August 8, 2005
This review is from: My Summer of Love (Audio CD)
Okay, I miss the old Goldfrapp. I think, though this electro crap is great fun to dance/drive to, I yearn for the good old Felt Mountain days. From the previews, this album seemed as though it would deliver the goods. It did, all six minutes of them. And what's worse, the so called "goods" were those little ditties that Goldfrapp used on their website as sonic wallpaper. Don't get me wrong, the songs are lovely, but they're 39 seconds long. Nearly everything else is *song does not actually appear in film or #song does not appear in film in this form! So you are paying a good 16.99 for six minutes of music. Lovely music, but hardly worth it.
