4.0 out of 5 stars They should be so lucky!
This disc is the follow up to 1997's "Robyn is here" and it will never get played in the U.S., which is a sad reality about the state of music in the U.S. and a shame. Before working with Britney, producer Max Martin collaborated with Robyn. This disc is 100% Robyn (Martin is nowhere to be found) and the slick production was pulled back to reveal an artist in a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for fans of her current more cutting edge albums
For those rabid fans who feel the need to collect everything a singer does, I would highly recommend staying away from this album. It's really pretty bad, and is nothing like what her current albums are showcasing. The only two good songs on this album are "Electric" and "Main Thing". Kinda funky, but still dated. This disc is the follow up to 1997's "Robyn is here" and it will never get played in the U.S., which is a sad reality about the state of music in the U.S. and a shame. Before working with Britney, producer Max Martin collaborated with Robyn. This disc is 100% Robyn (Martin is nowhere to be found) and the slick production was pulled back to reveal an artist in a state of growth. A terrible shame that RCA chose not to release it in the States, which only leads to one question. Was RCA too involved with Christina Aguilera to bring us the sophmore disc from one of Sweden's most promising artists? Considering the number of manufactured pop princesses in the U.S. right now, it may have been a good thing for Robyn's "my truth".

5.0 out of 5 stars THE HIDDEN SONG IN SWEDISH, January 10, 2000
This review is from: My Truth (Audio CD)
To all you Robyn fans: The last song listed on Amazon's tracklisting of My truth is hidden. If you rewind when playing the first song, you can find it before "Play". It features the talanted Swedish rapper Petter. An awesome track!

5.0 out of 5 stars Robyn's done it again!, February 20, 2000

I luv this album to bits! "ROBYN IS HERE" was good but this album has to be her best yet! My favourites are the excellent "ELECTRIC", "LONG GONE", "PLAY", "UNIVERSAL WOMAN", "GIVING YOU BACK" and....well.......all of the album! Every Robyn fan should have this album. To her she may be an ordinary woman but in fact she has done it again making another fab album and is now a Universal Woman, a winnner of "the best pop/rock female singer" and "best swedish act of 2000". You go girl! You are the best singer ever! P.S COME BACK TO ENGLAND!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic album, November 20, 1999

I just found a little while ago that Robyn had put out a bran new cd, and as soon as I heard, I bought the album ~*S*~ I've been a big fan of Robyn's right from the very start, the first time I heard her voice, I was captivated by it, she has a really unique and beautiful voice :) This album is definetly more mature than her first, just like everybody else did mention, when I first listend to the album, I was moved by the lyrics, and the new sound *S* Keep up the good work Robyn!

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW..Robyn IS back with this great CD!, July 30, 1999

If you found this CD you are probably already a Robyn fan since it hasn't been released in the U.S. Hopefully it will be released in the U.S. soon. Europe always seems to be ahead of us with unique creative music. Robyn's second CD is different from the first, overall less dance orientated. Its richer, mature, deeper with a slower funky groove. Before you pay the high cost of this hard to find CD I think you should really be a hardcore Robyn fan or you might be disappointed. If you "get" what Robyn is about you will love it! On this second CD, Robyn shows she is more than a singer - a true artist. So if you like listening to some new sounds will a funky twist you are in for a real treat. On my list of one of the best CD's of the year. One note; the last song on the Amazon song list, a Swedish song is not on the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, September 4, 2000
By A Customer

Very mature and spiritual! Robyn you're the best we've got in Sweden! Too bad the american record company refuses to release it because, as they say, it does not contain any obvious hit song! Robyn has even offered to rerecord and add some new songs, but no, still no response. They just want nice packaged products like Britney, N'sync and so on...They just do what they're told! Robyn on the other hand is a singer/songwriter with great integrity and potential!

5.0 out of 5 stars Universal Woman!!!, June 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: My Truth (Audio CD)
Robyn is back and better then ever - The cd contains the first single, Electric in a longer album versions - very cool! My favorite tracks on the cd is, My Truth, Not On The Inside + Universal Woman - like on Robyn's first cd, Robyn Is Here, the new one is also written by herself over what she has experienced in her life etc...

A very good and more mature cd from the swedish star - 2 tumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of My Truth, February 20, 2001

LilliPad (The South, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Truth (Audio CD)
This CD is phenomenal. Working with good producers/songwriters who don't stifle your creativity, and having solid material are key to the success of an album. She is young, she is original and she actually does speak her truth on this album. From Underneath the Heart to Universal Woman, Robyn isn't afraid to be vulnerable or soft. And maturity and wisdom I knew she was capable of even during her Robyn Is Here phase, can be heard on songs like My Truth, Play and Not On the Inside. The entire album is wonderful and this girl is not afraid to experiment. Despite the intelligence of this album, most of the songs are extremely danceable because of course, Robyn is all about something you can move to. Electric is a prime example of that. Robyn can't even be compared to any random Pop Princess, so no one should even attempt to. This is an atual ARTIST. With a soft and meaningful voice, Robyn delivered this album with awesome power. Why wasn't this album released in 1999 in America? Maybe because the industry is too busy dangerously investing all it has into thoughtless crap (mmm, NSync) at the moment. All the same, this is an artist who can't be ignored, and hopefully the people who this album needs to reach will hear it soon.

I paid a premium price for this CD because I had to pay import prices... I love it though and would have paid twice the [money] I already paid. She is great. Track #12 alone is almost worth the price of admission!
