5.0 out of 5 stars Fin-de-siecle at its finest!, August 6, 1999

This review is from: My Twentieth Century: Poems (Paperback)
MY TWENTIETH CENTURY is a terrific book--generous, funny, expansive, and authentic. Kirby has a flair for integrating personaland public life into the same poem--whether he's talking about a polio epidemic, fixing appliances for Sears, dropping burned toast out of a window, sex therapy, or getting dissed by Saul Bellow on an airplane. If you have a literate friend who usually avoids anything that goes only halfway across the page, get him (or her) this book. It's a blast to read.
