5.0 out of 5 stars Medicine For The Soul, March 11, 2003

This review is from: My Utmost For His Highest: Quiet Prayers (Audio CD)
I have been looking for a Christian prayful mediatative soothing CD to help my nerves through these troubling times and found this CD to be my answer. His voice pitch, musical ability, choice of songs, etc., can provide medicine for the soul that no anti-depressant, psychologist, alcohol, drug, or new-age mumbo jumbo can provide. There is truly powerful comfort in this CD's presentation. If I have trouble sleeping, this CD resolves the issue. I hope others can find the same strength that I have found through his prayerful music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerful yet relaxing Christian musical experience, March 24, 1999

This review is from: My Utmost For His Highest: Quiet Prayers (Audio CD)
I bought this CD two months ago after I heard one track at a Christian Experience Weekend. It quickly became the most played CD in my collection. I like a wide variety of Christian Music: John Michael Talbot, Phillips, Craig & Dean, 4Him, The Newsboys, Ray Boltz, it depends on how I feel. But the CD I most frequently use to relax and center, to invite the Holy Spirit is this one. I can interchange it with John Michael Talbot for worship music, slip it into the car for relaxation or use it as background while I'm writing. I love it. My only regret is I've been unable to find another work by Bryan that is similar in style to this one. The others I've heard have been good, but they don't come close to the serenity and inspiration in this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reflective and Soothing Music, August 24, 2000
By
This recording always relaxes me. I can put it on and find that my mind wanders with it...thinking about God and coming back to the present then drifting back to God again. The music has a soothing presence that draws my spirit to the Lord. Also, I have never grown sick of listening to this collection. The songs tend to blend together, and then the next thing I know the music is over and I am sad to see the songs end.

I would definitely recommend this as a welcome addition to anyone's devotional music collection. But if you do get this recording, don't expect to be overwhelmed by the songs on the first listening. They are gentle songs that grow on you after some quiet reflection and time.

5.0 out of 5 stars We've (He's) Come a Long Way, Baby!, April 25, 1998
By
This review is from: My Utmost For His Highest: Quiet Prayers (Audio CD)
From a conservative Christian college in Florida, to the earth-shaking melodies of "Sweet Comfort Band" to a recording of profound, historic, and soul-searching, reflective musical prayers, Bryan Duncan has definitely come a long way. The opening song, "When I turn to You," is probably one of the greatest testimonies ever written in song. This song, subtitled "Bryan's hymn" says everything that every believer has always wanted to say to the Lord, but didn't know how, or couldn't find the right words. Bryan's re-version of "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go" is fabulous as well, considering his slight alteration of the tune, and ditto for "I Surrender All." This is probably the best CD that I bought in 1996, and I purchased quite a few. All of the recordings will strengthen your spirit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet Prayers Louder Than Any Silence, April 23, 2000

I come to this 1996 recording four years late (it's 2000 now). It is an extraordinary collection of quiet prayers that speak clearly and loudly from the soul. Amazing. An astonishing, quiet "oasis" of deep human feeling and human devotion. Bryan has miraculously managed to slow down the World and focus on the most important moments and beliefs in spiritual life. Bryan's recordings of undying perennials "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" and the unerring "I Need Thee Every Hour" cast an entirely new light on the depth of human faith and even the very "form" it may take. This recording is a rare, precious jewel; it radiates from the shelf; its energy calls with the greatest possible power. "My Utmost For His Highest" is an extraordinary Bryan Duncan recording that invites -- no, compels -- surprise from the very first note. Amazing. Ron/ Onsax/ St.Louis

I have the cassett and have played it for a year off and on going to work in the morning. It sets the tone for my whole day and helps me to focous on the Lord. My new truck only has a CD so the first thing I have to do is replace the cassett. The music and words will touch your heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars Total Peace, November 30, 2007
This review is from: My Utmost For His Highest: Quiet Prayers (Audio CD)
I've had this CD for so long, I think I first purchased it as a cassette. My mom, sister and grandparents all have this CD has well. I think we're all on our 2nd or 3rd CD of this since we play it so much.

When my Grandmother was dying at home, we played this CD. It filled the house with so much peace. It was a comfort during a very stressful, painful time.

Most recently my Grandfather passed away and when we came back to his house from the hospital, we were all sitting around the living room, kind of numb, and we played this CD again. (It was still in the CD player from back when my Grandma died) We let the tears come and we allowed the music to minister to us.

Just this Thanksgiving we played it during Thanksgiving dinner - how relaxing it was to listen to this CD again! It was perfect for a day of rejoicing and thanksgiving to God.

I highly recommend this CD. It has blessed my family and me beyond measure.
