Tinh was born in a rural Vietnamese village northeast of Saigon where his mother was involved with South Vietnam's war effort. After moving to the US, Tinh began studying classical guitar under harp guitarist John Doan at Willamette University in Salem, OR. During the next four years, while earning a bachelor degree, he began to use his guitar to express the intense emotions associated with his memories of a war-torn Vietnam. My Vietnamese Suite, an album of original solo acoustic guitar compositions, transcends a young Vietnamese guitarist's memories of his war torn country and the loneliness of being a refugee into a beautiful and powerful statement of how war can effect people.

I first heard Tinh on WORT (public radio) in Wisconsin. THey played this entire album and I sat spellbound in my car for 40 minutes till it was over. He has an amazing sense of touch and dynamics on his instrument. Compositions are excellent. Recording quality is excellent. You almost never hear any sort of scrape or picking sound. He is very clean. As a guitarist, I heard thought "John Fahey, only much better"
