*** >>> Unfortunately, this device started acting up a year after I bought it and this weekend it quit working altogether.
I am trying to pursue the warranty, but there is no number to call on the unit, so I am not encouraged by this. Nicest thing about this (for kitchen use) is that I can place a saucer plate on top of the scale, it automatically adjusts to a new zero and then I can measure cuts of meat by the oz with precision down to .05 of an oz. ON the office side, it can measure items up to 15# if the box is small enough to fit on the scale and still see the numbers. If there was a down side, it is the few seconds it takes to adjust to the new zero, when turning it on, but I'm not that impatient.

I bought the scale in March 2006 for $35. It did not work right when upon receipt. There is a plastic weigh platform that sits on a flat piece of metal. There are 2 alignment holes with the plastic platform and the metal platform plus 4 others that align with the plastic case of the scale. These were not in agreement. With some tools I changed the metal platform alignment so the plastic platform would align with the scale case.
Some people found the slow power on a problem (about 3-5 s) but I never did. What was an annoyance was the slow response to a change in weight. I would frequently want to weigh out a fixed amount by adding/removing small amounts of the material of the order of 10 g or less to get to the desired weight. It would take 3 s or more for the scale to adjust the displayed weight. I found that if you touched the scale so that the weight change was say 100 g then the scale would adjust right away. So it was an annoying routine of adding/removing material, touching the scale to see the adjusted weight. The scale has 5 buttons: Hold, Units, Calibration? (not sure and can't try it now that the scale is dead), Tare and On/off toggle. I never used hold and set the units to grams throughout the life of the scale. The tare function was convenient. It would also show a negative amount in cases you had used the tare and then removed the item. I did have problems seeing the display with bulky items on the scale but found a workaround by using a colander as a weigh platform with the tare function. The range was 0 to 7 kg with a resolution of 1 g throughout the entire range. I never did a problem with accuracy but then I never looked. There was a slight problem with drift while an item was on the scale but it was less than 1 g. The scale comes with a 30 yr warranty. The plastic weigh platform was not durable. It did not take long for scratches and wear to appear and that was with proper care. I bought the scale with the AC adapter so I can't address battery life. I used it 2-3x a week and after 3 years I was having problems with the on/off switch. There is a button that toggles back and forth from on and off. After a while when trying to turn the scale from on to off, it would repeat the power on sequence and stay turned on. Finally after 4 years I heard this beeping sound and found the scale was automatically powering itself on, displaying a message, beeping after 3 minutes or so and powering on again. I went to the website and found a page on warranty information and an online manual. There was nothing in the online manual about this problem so I followed the warranty information and warranty card instructions. These are to send the filled out warranty card, copy of original receipt and the scale to the address on the warranty card which I did. About 10 days later the scale came back undeliverable to the address on the package. I checked and the address matched the warranty card. I found on the website there is a form for technical support which I filled out. I told them I had spent $7.62 to send the scale and the address was invalid. They replied in 2 days saying to send in the scale and gave me a different address but said nothing about the previous mailing attempt. I replied saying I wanted an adjustment for the previous mailing but never did get a response. So I quit doing business with My Weigh and have found another vendor.

This is a great scale. I use it in the kitchen, and it boots quickly, the zero doesn't drift, and it stays on long enough (time on is adjustable) to weigh by difference. The accessories are intended mostly for weighing mail and hook over the sides of the platform to stay in place. A switchable light is available if needed to read the weight if needed. The available readouts in grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, and pounds-ounces should cover any needs.
My previous scales drifted, turned off too soon, and just read in grams and pounds-ounces. I am so happy to have this one!
