Just a little insight for those who purchase this product. I was a little hesitant to buy this based on the poor review I read here. Once the product arrived, I was able to replicate the results found by Jay H, in that I could get different weights based on the position of the object I was weighing. Further inspection revealed that the four legs of the flat plate were not equally seated within the scale. After fully seating the top plate (tray), the scale gave weights within .005 lbs regardless of what corner I put it on... plenty accurate for me! Hope this helps!

I bought this scale a few months ago, It's WONDERFUL, very easy to use, really accurate, and the numbers are very easy to read (they are big enough).The only thing that I recomend you is to be careful with the Stainless Steel Platform when you take the scale from the box, because the platform is very sharp and I got my hand hurt (dont worry about it, just be careful). I recomend this to any one. It's worth it.

This scale works great! You do need to make sure that the weigh plate is seated firmly in order to get accurate measurements, but that is not difficult to do. Just something to keep in mind if you have problems with inaccuracies. Easy to read display, and accurate measurements. I would recommend this scale.

Nice scale, meets my needs. The only thing I didn't like is that it is battery operated and has no power cord with it. This is fine for as often as I use it, but on the other hand, having batteries in it for an extended amount of time I run the risk of them eventually leaking and ruining the scale. But, works great, easy to use,

I LOVE my new food scale!, which took less than 7 days to arrive from time of order. The best feature is the very large digital readout that's lit up when in use. The 4 settings (on/off, mode, hold, and tare), located to the immediate right of the digital readout, are easy to manipulate with a slight finger touch. Both the readout and settings are slanted upward so that I don't need to stoop down to read. When I set it to "hold" the weigh measurement, it stays on indefinitely. The flat 6.5 inch square stainless steel platform easily holds any size cooking utensil. The platform has 4 short pegs, which fit into 4 holes in the base. Since it's slightly larger than its supporting base, a liquid spill would probably run off instead of pool underneath. I don't know if liquid running underneath would ruin the scale. I ordered the 4.5 AC voltage adapter so that I can use electricity. This scale has a 30-year lifetime warranty. This is important since I weigh all my food portions that I eat every day. I have owned several digital food scales over the last 12 years. This one is by far the BEST!

I am generally very pleased with this scale. I was a little disappointed that the case is a light plastic. I had hoped it was stainless steel like the tray, but the tray is the only part that is stainless steel. I was also disappointed with the fact that the scale shuts off after a short while (two minutes I think) even if you are still slowly adding weight. The manual provides a procedure to select a longer time-out, but I followed that procedure to the letter, several times, and was not able to get to the display that lets you select different time-out settings. On the positive side, I love the fact that the tray covers the whole top surface and is easy to remove to wipe clean. The hard face plate does a great job of covering the front of the scale to keep it clean. The scale also comes with three covers for the display and buttons. This is great as you can use the scale without wiping your hands each time, and then just take off the cover and wipe it or wash it when you are done. These additional covers are quite flimsy though, and there is nothing holding them in place other than the raised profile of the display and buttons. Overall, this is a nice, accurate scale that is easy to use and very easy to keep clean. It seems to be better value than anything else I looked at in this price range.

I saw this scale on a website for soap making supplies. It was recommended for it's capacity and because it was accurate and has a faceplate cover. They were charging almost twice as much for the same scale. I have used it to make soap and it is perfect. The price included an AC adapter, which is usually 7 dollars extra. This was a great deal on this product.

I am very pleased with this instument. I have been using a volume scale and am suprised at the difference in weight measured. It is difficult at times to have to figure out the weight of flour, sugar etc. but it has made a difference in my baking. As soon as I opened it my husband brought out his weights and put it to the test and it was right on the money. It's easy to clean and hope that I will continue to have a high opinion. I have been using the Escali scale and have had to replace it twice in two years. I am having trouble with the numbers sticking again so this is an excellent replacement.

this scale is as good as its reviews say it is, but I did not get the stainless steel scale I ordered. The one that showed up at my door is black, with a brushed steel platform on top where you put the 'things' to weigh. That is the only piece that is stainless steel.

But I am not going to send it back and wait even longer just because the scale that is pictured, that I ordered, did not come to me. I do get frustrated and irritated that what I saw and ordered is not what I got, but it did not diminish the use of this scale.

Still an excellent product, but the description and picture of 'stainless steel' food scale is not correct, mine was black plastic everywhere except on the top plate for weighing.

I have tried buying many electronic balances that have not had Mettler/Ohaus price tags. Some have been silly, like the one that automatically locks the reading by freezing the display. Some have simply stopped working when the box is opened.

The KD7000, supplied with disosable splash shields as well as the removable swing-down Lexan one, is well designed, stable, with accesible options such as idle time shutoff. I verified the accuracy with my weight set (NBS Tracable) and found it within published limits. Naturally, no inexpensive 7kG balance is going to weigh milligrams. The blue LED backlighting can be turned off on the LCD display to conserve the battery.

This is a serious tool, not a toy, not a "Use and discard" cheap thing. Superb design, response time can be changed, and well built. I look forward to years of use.

The use environment is a manufacturing lab, where it is used to make prototype-size batches of polymers for composite applications as well as custom formulations for other products. Avoid contact with acetone and other solvents, of course, as the plastic LCD cover could become clouded.
