4.0 out of 5 stars continues the weird school tradition
My 8 year old son loved this book. It is interesting in that it takes place away from the school, but still has most of the familiar characters. The reader gets a fun introduction to Mr. Granite, who makes an appearance in another book, later. If your child likes the weird school series, don't pass this one up!

3.0 out of 5 stars hmmmm!!!
I gave this a 3 star because I would give it a one and I am sure my 9 year old would give it a 5.

He just thinks it is hilarious, He loves that the girl Andrea is hated by the boy, since he also finds girls very annoying, he loves that the boy hates reading, since he hates reading, he loved the chapter that only had one paragraph, but was still considered...

3.0 out of 5 stars hmmmm!!!, October 29, 2010
I gave this a 3 star because I would give it a one and I am sure my 9 year old would give it a 5.

He just thinks it is hilarious, He loves that the girl Andrea is hated by the boy, since he also finds girls very annoying, he loves that the boy hates reading, since he hates reading, he loved the chapter that only had one paragraph, but was still considered a chapter, since I have to always negotiate with him every night how many chapters he should read. All his friends in school are reading these books, so he decided to try one.

What I liked about the book:

I liked the part where he figures out the number of weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds in his summer vacation. A great moment for a student to think about math.

I like the referrences to Shakespeare. He had never heard of him and he found it interesting but weird.

I liked that the book talks about the importance of mouth to mouth resuscitation.

What I hated about the book!!!!

The referrence to "SHakespeares butt"
The Nah nah nah boo boo part at the teacher.
The constant " I hate Andrea parts"

I am just not convinced that we should be encouraging this with our students just to get them to read. I am very worried about our children being introduced to this type of behavior more and more through tv and now books.

updated: A week later. My son who almost never gets in trouble has been sent to his room for talking back to me. If you haven't guessed it, "Nah nah nah boo boo" came out of his mouth when I was talking to him about some things I needed him to get done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Good!, November 12, 2009
A Kid's Review
As soon as I got it I was happy. When I read it it was really funny because weird stuff was happening. A person's worst enemy has to stay at a beach house with him. Luckily his 3 best friends are also staying with them. Even the cover looks hilarious. After I read it I couldn't wait till I got another book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC!!!, September 4, 2008

Okay. I am not 13 years old, more like Jack Benny's 39. I have a brain tumor and I am very, VERY slow. But this book was GREAT.

The book is called "Mr. Sunny Is Funny" and it takes place at the beach near the ocean and there is a shark! This was a CLASSIC! Believe it or not, there were lots about Shakespeare --- even the real stuff! At the last chapter, it says "The Big Surprise End That Will Completely Shock You, Unless You Already Guessed It". Does this sound like George Kirgo? (He was an author, wrote books, movies, etc.) His book was called "How to Write Ten Different Best Sellers NOW in Your Spare Time -- and Become the First Author on Your Block, Unless There's an Author Already on Your Block, in Which Case You'll Become the Second Author on Your Block, and That's Okay, Too AND OTHER STORIES".

Thanks, George.
