This series is very cute and funny. Being an elementary school teacher, I can relate to the humor and the going ons at school. My students get a kick out of these books! This is one series I will keep on my book shelves, for humor.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow....what a horrible book!
We live in a world where we try to teach our children not to hate and not to bully one another at school. The first page of this book says the word "hate" four times!!! The third page talks about spitting a straw wrapper at an "annoying girl" then when she gets hit with it a change reaction happens where one of her "annoying friends" falls to the floor. This series is very cute and funny. Being an elementary school teacher, I can relate to the humor and the going ons at school. My students get a kick out of these books! This is one series I will keep on my book shelves, for humor.

In Ms. LaGrange is Strange, Ella Mentry School has lost their lunch lady. The schools new lunch lady talks in French and writes YAWYE in her mashed potatoes. AJ, a student at Ella Mentry, won't eat any vegtables at lunch time. He would rather eat junk food. Ms. LaGrange gets him to eat one pea in exchange for finding out what YAWYE means "You Are What You Eat." While this is going on, Ella Mentry School has been given the award for the cleanist school in the district. The school was named after Ella Mentry and she is going to visit the school. The day that she shows up, there is a huge food fight in the vomitorium (cafeteria). She is pleased to see this and even joins in on the fun. This is a crazy and funny story. Read to find out what else happens in this story.

This review is from: My Weird School #8: Ms. LaGrange Is Strange! (Library Binding)
This book came home with my 5 year old from kindergarten and I was appalled and needless to say I read it to myself and not her. The only good quality about the book was the phrase "you are what you eat". I have so many other bad things I could say about it but I will refrain for now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book Choice, December 9, 2008

These Weird School Series books by Dan Gutman are ideal for getting boys to like reading because of their humor (boy humor) and realistic viewpoints about school!. They are appropriate for about first to third graders. I read them with my son and he loves them. He can't wait to get them all.
