My Wonderful Aunt reviewed by Naomi Alvarez, February 4, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: My Wonderful Aunt: Story Four (My Wonderful Aunt Books) (Library Binding)
This year I read a wonderful book called My Wonderful Aunt by Margaret Mahy, illustrated by Deirdre Gardener. The book My Wonderful Aunt is a great book its about a girls aunt who likes to go on adventures. She worked in the circus and wrestled a bear! High up she swung on trapezes. She went off to sea with a pirate named Fred and came home with parrots and diamonds instead. A girl was outside gardening when she heard a yell. She looked up she saw her aunt in the sky in two parachutes (red and purple). A seagull sat on her head. One time she went to the kitchen, and started to bake a cake a new kind of cake. The cake was decorated in chocolate and iced. She made a rock and roll band people came and danced. Its all these adventures which keep me alive she said.
The books message is that aunts could also have
adventures. Some aunts can do what they want. They can travel to a different place in the world if they want. Some aunts can be any age young or old. Some can even be kids. You should also spend time with you're aunt or aunts. Book because I like to spend time with my aunt. The aunt in the book does crazy things.
I think you should read this book if you like to spend
time with your aunt. I thought it was going to be real
boring but it wasn't that boring when I read it.
