Book Description

November 1, 2009

The quintessential suave hero, Roger Moore has enjoyed a successful career that has spanned seven decades, from early television through the golden age of Hollywood and on to international superstardom. Dashing, handsome, and every inch the archetypal English gentleman, he is most widely known for making seven blockbuster films as arguably the most debonair 007 of all time. He has worked with some of the world’s most legendary stars, including such luminaries as Noel Coward, Sean Connery, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Lana Turner, Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Richard Harris, and Michael Caine. For the first time, Roger shares his recollections of playing some of the world’s most famous roles as well as myriad stories from his personal life, including events from his childhood in London and his experiences during World War II. Filled with anecdotes from his encounters with celebrities of every variety and his memories from the heydays of Hollywood, this is a frank, funny, and disarmingly charming story of a life lived among the stars.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"There are stories galore... With a warm, winning mix of self deprecation and praise for family, friends and colleagues... Sir Roger emerges as a figure every bit as dashing, but rather better-natured, than he's played on screen" "Empire". December 2008. "Moore's autobiography is the funniest film memoir since David Niven's 'The Moon's a Balloon'" Petronella Wyatt, "Daily Mail", October 2008.

This book came through like new but it did take six weeks for it to be received. I had to contact the seller which told me that it was sent out a couple of days after getting the order. I guess it came from England so that must be why it took six weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hello Mr. Bond, March 29, 2010
By
This review is from: My Word Is My Bond: The Autobiography (Paperback)
An engaging read about Roger Moore and his childhood in London, dodging the Blitz. He visited the hospital several times. Spent time in Hollywood in the '50's and '60's. He shares a sad tale how a couple had to go about to get a divorce, he has been married four times.
He starred in 'The Saint' 'The Persuaders' then... became Mr. Bond, my favorite one. He talks about 'The Spy Who Loved Me' 'Moonraker' 'For Your Eyes Only' and View to a Kill', his time with Grace Jones and more.
In his later years he has worked with UNICEF for the betterment of society. Nobel I think.
