Niche appeal,

(NOTE: I have played this game from start to finish in roughly 32 hours. In this review, I'll use MWMW as an acronym for "My World, My Way".)
In MWMW you play the part of Elise, an incredibly spoiled, self-centered princess who has decided it is time to obtain a boyfriend. She meets the Love of Her Life at a party and confesses his destiny to him, only to be appalled at his rejection. After a night of intense pouting, she casts aside her frilly dress, cuts her hair, puts on a totally impractical set of armor, and sets out to gain the admiration of her desired beau by becoming "mature." I love this game and would recommend it to others yet recognize its appeal is niche. MWMW is obviously geared toward those who are at least familiar with RPGs as much of the game's humor--even its advertising--relies upon knowledge of RPG tropes. Chances are that if you do not recognize the acronym RPG, this game isn't for you. The story, the characters, and Atlus's skillful localization come together to make a humorous, charming backdrop for MWMW's gameplay. The gameplay, unfortunately, is not a good fit, being formulaic to the point of monotony. The game is divided into 4 chapters; in each chapter are a number of towns. Once you enter a town, you must complete a number of quests and defeat a miniboss before you can leave and go to the next town. These quests consist of killing X number of monsters or collecting Y number of items. Sometimes you go into dungeons to kill a boss. The tedium of this sort of gameplay can be offset to some degree if you can cleverly use the game's most interesting mechanic: Pout Points. PP are the ultimate manifestation of Elise's selfishness and they allow the princess to change her world in various ways. For instance, pouting can end battles or complete quests, make enemies drop more gold or items, raise the levels of nearby monsters or make them give her more experience. I'd most strongly recommend the game to RPG fans who like their RPGs with a hefty dose of humor. The more RPGs you've played--and the older your first or favorite RPG--the better chance you'll have to appreciate MWMW. This game will also appeal to the kind of gamer who likes to make their character as godly as possible (twinks), as this game gives you many opportunities to do just that.

Gameplay was nice but the ending was terrible.,

This review is from: My World My Way (Video Game)
I beat this game in 31 hours, but I know people who beat it in 18. It's not a very hard game. It's pretty repetitive. You go to a town, do some quests, run through a dungeon, kill the boss. Repeat. The constant battling can become tedious (especially in the final dungeon).
I just wanted to put out a warning to everyone. The ending is a big let down. There practically isn't one. After the final boss fight (which can be difficult for some) you cannot save. There is no after game enjoyment or any replay value what-so-ever. You will be stuck in the last town forever and cannot go anywhere else. If you just want a game to run through once and don't care about a good story with a great finish then you would probably enjoy it. But seriously the ending is terrible.

An atypical Atlus RPG.,

Usually, people buy Atlus games because they offer an RPG experience that has been lacking in Square-Enix games since the merger. But this game is truly one of a kind. Gone are the RPG adventure of the Shin Megami Tensei series or the great dungeoncrawl of Etrian Odyssey/Dark Spire, this game is an odd adventure focusing on a spoiled girl who wants to prove herself to the man she loves (Quite the role reversal from what most RPGS are used to). The girl has "Pout Points", so she can whine and kvetch to make her quests easier. Don't like how hard everything is? Whine for easier conditions. Don't like not having any money? Whine for more gold. This keeps the action flowing smoothly, as truly difficult bottlenecks in the story (Common in Atlus offerings) can be overcome by whining. Add in a whimsical storyline and it makes for a memorable, fun experience.
