This amazing cookbook is just what I expected, and it aims to please! I have been following Rachel Ray for a long time on her iconic TV Food Network show, and tried several recipes, prior to receiving this book. I have never been disappointed with any recipe I tried, including many from this new release. The Strawberry velvet cocktail is out of this world, and another favorite of mine is The Eastern Egg Sandwich, incredible is the best choice of word to describe the results as breakfast is my favorite meal. This book is a behind-the-scenes view of Rachel Ray's kitchen, without the cameras. However, her witty and pleasant personality follows her steps right into her kitchen. She offers mouth-watering dishes from breakfast to dinner, and much more. Her special dishes are inspiring for any occasion, and originate from her world-wide travels, and the recipes include dishes for any season. There are recipes for one full year, dinner-party recipes for social gatherings, and quick-and-easy recipes for the unexpected visits. The recipes are home-made favorites, which include uplifting and fun-filled personal stories. The barbecue recipes are fantastic, and there are several stunning photos of the homemade dishes. This book is 384 pages of pure delight. A perfect gift for all cooks. Highly Recommended!

I received this book as a gift, and was excited to sit and read it........what a surprise. I have never been so disappointed in a cookbook. I like Rachel Rae, I do.......but this cookbook seemed more of an attempt to convince people she is actually a real 'chef' at home. That maybe by using obscure ingredients the average person wouldn't even know what they were, or would have to mail order, makes you a better cook? When you have geared your entire career on appealing to the masses (30 min meals, $20 a day, her show, etc) you would seriously expect to have them cook 'Wild Boar Hash' or have 'Fennel Pollen' on hand, let alone mail order XXX or an obscure Italian cheese cause it's you hubby's favorite? (and no, I am not dense, foodie me even knows what ramps are :)

Now even if I did believe you cook like that all the time, I would have to wonder why you don't weigh 300 plus pounds....EVOO (even on bacon?), heavy cream, cheeses (parm, goat,mail-order, etc), eggs and pasta pasta pasta, RR is surprisingly NOT 300+pounds.

The cocktails are not geared for the masses either. The average person does not entertain like that enough to want to mail order flavored/infused syrups or have that quantity of obscure liquors on hand! Most BARS don't have that variety on hand!!

The fact that you have been promoting this book on your show to your fans/masses knowing that the average home cook won't cook like that is sad. Aren't you revered enough or do you have to have adulation for your home life as well?

If I offended anyone that actually does have fennel pollen in their spice rack or wild boar in the fridge, I apologize.

Not what I expected. On her show she uses many ordinary, everyday things in her recipes, but the book has recipes that call for unusual food items. I gave it away.

My wife purchased this book for her Kindle and the two of us have been reading it on our Kindles throughout the day. Rachael Ray grew up very close to us in Upstate NY, so we were lucky enough to know about her talent early on as she was prominent on the local TV stations well before she became a famous name. This latest installment is a pleasure to read and is especially pleasing because she never strays from her roots in providing excellent, but easy to prepare recipes in a very homespun and readable manner. In order to get the full value of this book; I would recommend that you purchase the hardcover edition if you have an older Kindle like we do. There are many wonderful photographs throughout, but viewing them in black and white certainly doesn't do them justice. The newer Kindle Fire with its color screen, or dare I say iPad should work out fine too. The book provides pleasurable and delectable recipes, including numerous ones for cocktails and satisfies those who are looking for recipes that will suffice for all 3 meals of the day. My wife and I usually eat just 2 meals a day, skipping breakfast, but we'll certainly be trying out some of the breakfast dishes; we'll just call them lunch. This awesome book provides a fantastic opportunity to take a behind the scenes look at Rachael Ray's kitchen. Rachael Ray's unassuming personality shines throughout this book, as does her ability to make everything she describes sound so easy. Just as she's totally at home behind the camera; she's totally at home presenting recipes from around the world in a very easy to understand and often humorous fashion. Her bubbly personality shines throughout the book, as it does on TV(I wish a little bit would wear off on me).Read more ›

I have a large collection of cookbooks (over 300) and I LOVE to cook. I was excited about Rachael's new cookbook and ordered it as soon as it was available. I was not thrilled with it at all. It is not like any of her previous books, which could have been a good thing. However, with this book find it difficult to find the recipes because of the format that was used. Everyday for one year Rachael noted what she made on a particular date. Before the recipes are listed there is a monthly calendar with the day and date listed. The meals are then listed under the date it was made. For instance, if you want to make Chiles Rellenos, you would A). Have to know it was made on Tuesday, September 20, OR B). You would have to know it was in the index and then go back in the book to the recipe. There are a lot of recipes but difficult to locate unless you find the calendars or browse through each page. The photos are OK, nothing to write home about, and not all recipes have a photo to go with it. I was not thrilled with John Cusimano's drink recipes either. I was expecting so much more as Rachael always promotes what a "great mixologist" her husband is. The recipes are geared for one drink and some of the ingredients aren't worth the expense for the "average" person. For example, St.-Germain Elderflower Liquor and Green Chartreuse. Overall I was not happy with this cookbook and I won't recommend this to my friends. Maybe next time Rach.
