5.0 out of 5 stars This book is a MUST for anyone considering or using an iMac
I've had an iMac for a year, and finally I understand every aspect of it. It covers everything from each revision, to how to install more RAM. If you own an iMac, you should consider having this book around as a quick reference!

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic book for the beginner
Though this does cover in detail such things as Ethernet connections between two Macs (which I REALLY needed) and what you find when you open up your iMAC, it includes chapters on using a browser (doesn't everyone know by now?) and the software that's included (waste of paper at best--just use the on-line help files in AppleWorks). Try a different book if you're...

Try a different book if you're familiar with Macs and you find most software easy to figure out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dated already but helpful., April 21, 2000

The clarity and liveliness of the writing style make this a useful book even to purchasers of the more recent DVD model . The pictures are as plentiful and good as you'll find anywhere, and the inclusion of a CD is a nice bonus. But it needs to be updated.

2.0 out of 5 stars My iMac, June 22, 2000

This book is supposed to help the new iMac owner use his/her computer. My husband gave me a new iMac and this book as a gift. I spent 3 hours trying to find how to make my new printer work. This book has nothing at all about how to connect and use a printer. It even fails to explain the hidden steps of the printer "chooser" to enable the novice to select a printer. My advice is to choose a different book. This one is too simple for the experienced Mac user and leaves out important stuff that the new user will need.

3.0 out of 5 stars What we need is an Apple Resource Kit, April 4, 2001

First, a review for those people whose only computer experience is with an iMac: Great book! Easy and fun to read! Cool CD! Buy it now!

Now that they're gone... I purchased this book because I hadn't worked on Apples in a while and most other books on the shelf were as dated as my knowledge. The back cover and a quick skim led me to believe this book provided comprehensive coverage of Mac to iMac migration, troubleshooting, and the new features in OS 8. It didn't. Part one contains some nice photos, and part three some good advice, but as a technical reference it is sorely lacking (and part two has little to offer anyone computer savvy enough to read this review).

Though I enjoyed the William Gibson and Star Trek references, and I highly recommend this book to beginners, all in all iMnot iMpressed.
