Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Angela Hendricks on November 11, 2011
I have had this device for about 3 months. I couldn't get it to work initially because the default settings were wrong for N. America. I sent an email to the company with detailed description of what was happening. Their "fix" was to go to the device settings. They didn't tell me what to change. Luckily, my boyfriend figured it out. Once it was up and running it worked great...until it started reading my home videos like they had copyright protection. My home videos were bought as blank tapes. I emailed the company again and they suggested that I try another software. So their software is insufficient and I am supposed to go buy another software because the one that came with this product stopped working. I would not reccommend this product due to technical problems and very poor product support.

Contrary to many negative review, I had no problem with the MyGica Capit. I bought this to convert old VHS and VHS-C tapes to digital format. I had no problem with installing the driver and Showbiz software from the installation CD. The device works right away without problem. I do not have any freezing problem some people experienced - I think this may be related to slow hard drive write speed, because I have fast SSD installed on my laptop and never had any freezing problem. The only peeves are the lack of customization of video bitrate in WMV format (but the default 5000 kbps is good enough for standard definition VHS or VHS-C), and few choices of video format (particularly lack of DIVX / XVID format).
