My Guide 3050 - Lots of features, one killer flaw...,
This review is from: MyGuide 3000/3050 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Electronics)
I am a GPS junkie. I own or have owned about 15 units over the last 10 years. The features of the MyGuide 3050 are excellent, based on the SiRF chipset capability. As others have pointed out, the lack of a real time clock is a killer. On power-up the unit defaults to 2 AM somewhere in Europe. This sets the screen to night time if the night screen is programmed in. After start up you have to set the date (start-up is a few years ago) and correct time into the unit for other features to work (arrival time etc). Having said that the unit performs very well in actual use. Support is weak, I have sent two emails with questions to the company, both unanswered.

Cheap Price and It Shows in the Flaws,
This review is from: MyGuide 3000/3050 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Electronics)
The MyGuide 3050 is a budget GPS and the cost cutting shows. While the unit looks nice and features are good, the errors are constant and uncorrectable.IMPORTANT: The time / date of the unit will ALWAYS reset upon turn the unit off then on again. This is a major flaw as the unit will display a Error popup message upon syncing the time/date with the GPS sats. But this error message prevents you from using NAV until you press OK. HORRIBLE DESIGN Their customer support in the US, which by the way is just one guy working under the company "Ares Digital", has confirmed this. He is nice enough, but don't count on the 2 year warranty meaning anything in the long term. Spend your money elswhere

Useful when I crossed the country in January 2007,
This review is from: MyGuide 3000/3050 3.5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator (Electronics)
I recently had to cross the country during a long 2 week business trip. I used the MyGuide 3050 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, etc. It worked very well and I was able to get around without having to print out pages from Mapquest for every city. I feel it was a great purchase. My only complaint is that Amazon charged around $300.00. I later found it for $250.00 at Comp USA.
