I have a daughter who's 7 and a son who's 5, and we love video games. We are big fans of Mario Party 8, which made us interested in this game. Here are the pros and cons:
Pros: like the festivals (set of mini-games with little "surprise games" mixed in) because they make a game shorter than a game of Mario Party, games are good and simple to learn but difficult to master, no "practice" mode for a mini-game (my son will double the length of a game of MP8 if we don't limit practices), kids like the MySims "village" where the festivals take place, like the different qualities of each player (stamina, health, luck, and something else) that change throughout the game. Cons: Wii selection controls are annoying and make too much noise, the Sims you can choose from are pretty limited, making more Sims for your game is difficult. The minigame play is solid, but the controls between games and selecting options/players are just aggravating. We like the game but don't love it. It is a little cutesy, which my kids can take or leave, but you can deal with it. Definitely rent before you buy this one.

I bought this as a present for my 8 year old niece and she loves it! She thinks the mysims characters are adorable, and seems to really enjoy the game selection. Probably not for older kids or adults, but lots of fun for the younger game players in the house.

Uninspired game play, poor controls and unimaginative mini-games about sums up this title. If you've played any of the other party games out there then My Sims Party will seem basic at best. My 5 and 7 year old boys played this game for 10 minutes before turning it off. The controls feel as if your playing in mud, controller input is often missed, making some of the mini-games an exercise in frustration. Graphics are a step down from the other Wii Sims games, not that they were great to begin with.

If you have small kids and like to game with them, MySims Party is definitely at least worth a try, since the games are cute and accessible, even on first play. There is a very low threshold for "mastering" any of the minigames, and many of them come down to how fast you can wildly wave around the Wiimotes (and how much endurance you have to do it!). For multiplayer, basically the younger the players, the more fun it'll be. I tried it with 3 adults, and it was pretty boring, but watching a bunch of little kids play was a hoot. One weird aspect of the game is that it is decidedly very Japanese in theme, and unabashedly so. There's sushi sorting, fish chopping, etc, which will come across as a bit oddball to anyone without a lot of exposure to Japanese culture, but that might be a plus to some people.
The typical Sims stats don't really play into the multiplayer as far as I could tell, but they have some marginal effect in the singleplayer. I did not personally go through much of the single player campaign, but my sister, upon playing it for a short time, immediately requested a copy of this for Christmas. So we returned our rental and purchased this for her. She has mostly beaten the campaign in the month she's had it. Overall, adding depth to this game would have gone a long way into making it accessible for full families, but as it stands it CAN entertain smaller children. Your best bet is to rent before you buy. Had we purchased it for ourselves first, it would have gone into the unplayed-game-pile-of-doom long ago.

My kids, 9 and 7, didn't find much to interest them here. The screens require LOTS of reading which is hard for early readers, and the controls are terrible. Controls make annoying games, and require many clicks to work. The directions are also poorly translated into English, leading to frustration. The directions for the mini-games are poorly written, and combined with the terrible controls, kids find that they are unable to complete the games and enjoy them. Don't waste your money on this one. (We are new to Wii and gaming, but everybody in the family enjoys World of Goo which is nice because it's a download and not a disk.)

I bought this for my 11-year-old daughter for her birthday last week. She has played it every time she has turned on the wii in the last week and loves it! She really enjoys even just creating her character as there seem to be alot of things to choose from to personalize them. I have yet to play it but the kids (11 & 6) have been cracking up at the giant robot chasing them and other mini games they have played. They got their Aunt and Uncle playing on Easter and they were all having fun with it. Seems like a great game for a group of kids to play together!

This game isnt hard, its just too fast. I got it because I thought it would be fun and easier than the original Sim games, but its more frustrating than anything. The object is to play these mini-games and score the highest. No matter how hard you shake, wiggle, or push what you are supposed to on the controller, you can never keep up. I was to the point where I was like WTF? My daughter is 7 and she hates the game too. Good thing I only spent $10 on it, but that's still a waste of money.

Someone in my family was looking to add another wii game. She was meaning to get mario cart but she couldnt find it. She got this stupid game instead. All you can do is play these boring mini games. It takes forever to make the character. The options are stupid. Worst game we have.
