This second volume continues the formula of the first be collecting various different stories, from established ones (B.P.R.D. and Umbrella Academy) to stories from webcomic artists (Wondermark) to new stories by established artists (Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon) to stories from creators I haven't heard of before.
On a whole, I liked this volume better than the first one. Other than Steve Niles' Criminal Macabre stories, I liked most of them; and the Criminal Macabre stories weren't without merit as they had some nice artwork. The only real downfall of this volume is that there isn't any story that stands out like Sugarshock! in the previous volume. The Umbrella Academy, Wonder Twins Activate, and Nothingest are the highlights here. As always, you can check the stories out on the web first, but you get a lot of comics for your money and they are above par. |
