Product works fine with a good antenna. Remember folks, this is *NOT* a digital tuner. It's analog, and this device will be useless in the USA come February 2009. It will, however, still be useful in Canada until 2011 and in Mexico until 2022. I bought this device because I will be giving this as a gift to a friend in Canada. The seller should add "analog" to the title or in the description as most people don't know what NTSC/PAL is and may hastily assume it to be a digital tuner.

I took a chance purchasing this item since it had no previous reviews (I am the first). I just got it today and must say I am a happy camper. I was going to wait to see how it functions over the next few weeks but I didn't want to leave this item review-less that long (that's how much I like it!).

Anyway, I ordered the item because I have an older Samsung SyncMaster 172n (17" LCD monitor) collecting dust since I upgraded my computer monitor to a wide screen version. I wanted to make it a TV for our work out room and came across this little gem. I received the item very fast (2 days from hdtvonpc) and hooked it up right away. The item was packaged quite well (box is 11.5"x7.75"x2.75"). It doesn't come with an instruction manual persay, it comes with a diagram instead, but its easy to hook up anyway. I connected it to my monitor, cable hook up, and a pair of external speakers, (3 plugs for power total) and the picture came right on when I powered the device!

The remote control is cool. It has a number pad, channel up and down, volume control, mute button, on/off switch, and picture setting buttons.

I plan on hooking up my old X-box to it soon and will post an update to this review when I do.

I would have given the item a 4.5 out of 5 but they don't allow half stars. The only reason it got a 4 is that the item is made in China and is made of a cheap plastic construction (However, I don't plan on dropping it). Not only that but hdtvonpc offers a year warranty. You can't beat that for 30 bucks. Picture is full screen and fills my monitor, unless the tv broadcast is different. The picture quality isn't the greatest, a little grainy and faint diagonal lines, sort of like over the air broadcast, but it's hardly noticeable for casual viewing on a small screen and viewing at a small distance (I never had cable growing up and I am used to antenna tv). My monitor wasn't designed for this anyway. Another reason it didn't get 5 stars it that I would have liked a instruction manual for the remote control.

Overall I am very very pleased! You can't beat 30 dollars for a flat screen TV. Sure beats a few hundred if all you want to do is is have a spare TV and you have an extra monitor laying around. Buy it and see for yourself :-)

Works great with my LCD monitor (both standalone and through my PC). Decent price! It is fairly light, and with the cable and speaker wires attached, it might be hard to keep it where you want it (That will happen with most TV boxes on the market from my experience), All in all, it works well and was no problem to set up. One thing to keep in mind when putting the battery in the remote is that the battery goes UNDER the + connector, not on top (found out the hard way <Grin>...)

Good, cheap, and the right power adapter for your wall outlet; which two would you like?

I am using this to add a video/TV screen for a home treadmill, so my requirements were slight. I'm using it with a discarded 15" LCD computer monitor, at 1024x768 resolution. Picture quality is good, tuner sensitivity adequate for my exurban location, and setup was easy and instructions clear. I like it, even with the one glaring obstacle my unit presented.

In the box was a power supply good for 110/220vac, which was good, but it was designed for the outlets with two round pins, instead of US standard blades. There was an adapter provided for US customers which, while it fits my wall socket, does not fit the power adapter itself! Rather than purchase an additional adapter with the right pin arrangement, I was cheap and cracked the adapter's case to solder a pigtail to the primary terminals and adapt it myself. I did experiment with alternate power adapters, but didn't have one of sufficient voltage handy.

Performance is great, and the adapter provided was a nice try, but it would have been better if it had been the correct one.

I purchased this converter specifically to connect my Xbox360 HD output (YPbPr) to my high resolution LCD monitor and video projector. The ad shows the needed adapter cable in a plastic bag and specifically says it's included. It is not included, nor is it listed in the package contents. To their credit the seller did offer to take the product back, but I see they haven't changed their false advertising for this product. Thus my review. My problem is I live half way around the world from where I bought it. I was able to figure out the pinout for the cable and made one myself. Now I can't get my son off of it! Oh, and the manufacturer was NO help at all. Later I found another Mygica product for about $30 without the TV tuner that does include the cable. Great product for all other functions.

I got this so I could have a second TV for my bedroom. I have a normal TV in my living room but I wanted the option to occasionally watch TV in my room. It serves its perfect - turns a monitor I've always had into a TV provided that you pay for cable in your home.

Set up is as easy as can be. Video and sound quality are fine, I'm not really picky on that.

The biggest con is the remote - its insane and clearly made in China. Everything about it is counterintuitive. It says 1,2,3,4 then on the next row 5, 6, 7, 8 then on the next row 9,0 -- IMPOSSIBLE to input the channel in the dark. That would seriously annoy me if this was my primary TV but its not so I don't worry about it too much.

So I would say if you're cheap and need an occaisional TV or you're a starving college student who wants a TV but already owns a monitor - this is for you!

After my desktop computer ceased to work properly, I decided to change the flat-screen monitor into a flat-screen television. After a bit of research, I decided on this external television tuner, mainly due to a combination of lower pice and ammount of good reviews. When the item arrived, I have to admit I was bit suprised by the cheap plastic outer casing of the tuner, but as long as you don't plan on it taking a lot of abuse it should be fine. Also, the manuel it comes with is completely useless, but the tuner is easy to hook up and shouldn't be too much of a challange. Once you get the tuner hooked up and adjusted though, the tuner works better than imagined. I have had it for a while now and so far I have not had any major problems. If you're looking for a good tuner, but want something not to expensive then this is just the tuner for you.

This tv tuner is awesome, especially considering that I didn't expect much from a then $33.95 item. This tuner has met my expectations, and I am considering buying another one if the price doesn't go off the roof soon.

I have a 22' lcd monitor, so the 1680x1050 resolution was important to me. It supports that res. and others. Geniatech even has a more advanced model for those that have monitors with bigger resolutions.

I encourage you to give it a try if you have been wondering if it is worth investigating. The only thing that I wished that it had was a bigger remote controller, but for its other values, that is negligible.

This would be a wonderful product if it were for before the switch to digital broadcasting. I bought this product to be able to watch tv in my dorm on my LCD computer monitor. Unfortunately, without a digital converter box, it is completely useless. I was really psyched about the features too. It turned out to be a waste of 40ish bucks. The seller should really put in the description in big letters that it is an ANALOG TUNER.

Do not buy this product if you live in an area (like the United States) that only provides digital TV (ATSC - Advanced Television Systems Council) and you want to pickup signals over-the-air (OTA). If you plan on connecting it to Cox Cable, it will tune channels for you because the cable company provides an analog signal in addition to digital. Be sure to check with whatever cable TV company you use to ensure that analog signals are passed along to your devices before purchasing this product. Anyways, the seller was really good about letting me return this product, but I want to save you both time and money by letting you know that this is not a digital, ATSC, or HDTV product!
