one of the best in the series, July 24, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Myst IV: Revelation (DVD-ROM)
This is much better than Riven, because it was produced by the Frenchmen at Ubisoft instead of the original Myst and Riven developers in Spokane. The resources and ability in making high quality texture maps, ambient sound nodes, and more convincing sprite animations shows. Also it does not use the real time 3D rendering engine that the horrible-looking Uru uses. everything is pre-rendered. notice water buckets and touch them: water ripples will appear i nthe bucket. How about that! Displacement map animations! It all adds up to a very nicely built immersive experience that really has no peer except for the Journeyman Project Trilogy (which I prefer because of the more intriguing storyline)

My Favorite, July 26, 2011

Myst is my favorite game series and Myst IV: Revelation is my favorite game in the series. This is, therefore, my favorite game of ALL TIME!!!
So, you have to like puzzle games and such and you have to be patient enough to not mind if you are not able to figure out the puzzles immediately. (Or you could just use a walkthrough, but that's much less satisfying.)
I preferred Revelation to the others in the series because I thought the story line added more to the game than it did in the other games. (I didn't even understand the story line in Uru until I was almost done with the game. lol) If you are more concerned with things like graphics, however, I would go with Uru. I liked the graphics in Uru better than in End of Ages. (But I don't know anything about graphics so maybe you should ignore me.) Actually, now that I think of it I'll probably have to replay Uru. It will probably be more interesting now that I have read the books and understand the story line...
The other reviewer (the negative one) who said that there was all this weird, new-age-ish stuff at the end of Revelation was correct. Personally I'm all into weird, and new-age-ish stuff is fine with me in something that is obviously fictional. I'm totally into weirdness. It might freak me out if it were reality - or it might not. I don't know. Fear of the unknown is common to all. Anyhow, if you're not into weirdness and such then maybe you should listen to that other person's review. *insert complaint about normal, boring people here*
HAVE FUN!!!

MYST REVELATION, October 27, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Myst IV: Revelation (DVD-ROM)
The first ¾ of the game good. Lots of nice scenery and interesting puzzles.
But the last quarter of the game while in the vary last Age it gets pretty wacky.
The game introduces a lot of that "New Age" religious garbage like spirit guides and
Dream quests, fire , water and pollen spirits to present an offering to. And the last three puzzles were challenging but were just weird/freaky. Not the classic Myst style that is used in the first three Myst games. I think they have changed actors of the brothers also. Although they look similar to them in the original Myst, their intonations, expressions and voices don't quite match up.
Over all I give the game 3 out of 5 stars
