Myst IV is a great game, and any serious gamer knows this. But the guide is another matter. There are some serious errors, and if you rely on it too heavily, you will be very frustrated and you'll stop progressing in the game. Instead, use a site like GameFaqs that has user-written walkthroughs that have been tried and tested.

While Myst IV: Revelation is another beautiful, great game in the Myst series, this guidebook is not so great. If you are playing a game that relies heavily on difficult puzzles, then you need a good guide - however, this one is full of errors. It took me hours to figure out why I couldn't get past some puzzles after following the guide, only to realize it had given me the incorrect information in order to solve them. It would be better to find an online guide or walkthrough, instead.

Please, don't judge a game by its guide!

I have used Prima Official Game Guide for all my Myst adventures. This one is taking me though the adventure without a hitch, so far. I am about 2/3 though. I like to play the game while reading the guide. Its more like the game is a high quality support for the guide. I don't like to spend too much time exploring on my own and spending hours on puzzles. I like the story, not the play. If there was no Prima Guide, I would never have finished Myst. I have however experienced and enjoyed them all and have ordered the final one.

I found the guide very helpful in getting me past the places where I was stuck.

This game was crazy complicated, but as a fan of the series, I NEEDED to get through it, and not just complete it, but complete it with the knowledge that I didn't miss any crucial plot elements along the way. This book greatly helps the player on both fronts, and is a must-have companion to the game.

It was like buying a new game for 1/4 of the price, much better condition then expected. Arrived quickly, product was better then advertised, what more can you ask for?

By the way, why dosen't Amazon offer a spell check option for these reviews. I know I can cut and paste it into e-mail or word processing program and spell check and cut and paste it back in, but why should I have to? E-mail Amazon if you agree.

The Myst IV: Revelation game guide is a fantastic walkthrough of the fourth installment of the Myst series. The whole book reads as the journal of the Stranger (you) and how/why s/he solved the puzzles & chose the path given in order to complete the adventure. Everything is explained, including how the previous Mysts led up to this point and all the intricate little plot details. For anyone interested in knowing all there is to the storyline behind the Myst saga, this guide is a great help.

This game was exciting and interesting at every turn. The graphics are interesting and beautiful. The puzzles are challenging. The characters are well fleshed out and interesting.

The only fly in the ointment is the several puzzles that require dexterity to get through. The problem solving in the Myst universe has never required such a level of expertise in timing and placement before. . . just find the answer and go has been the solution in the past.

This game is completely awesome, awesome awesome awesome. But very difficult. Nice graphics, beautiful soundtrack, interesting storyline, and highly immersive. Some drawbacks? Static (i.e. non-freemoving) 3D graphics tend to make you feel "stuck" at times, however the visual quality makes up for that. Also, some of the puzzles' solutions felt a bit arbitrary and did require some online hints to get past them. Nice to have a cameo by Peter Gabriel (voiceover and a remake of the song "Curtains").
