Book Description

Will a war-torn America, split in two, put the nation on a path toward
healing and recovery? Or is futuristic America destined to remain bipartisan and
deeply divided?

Serena Wilcox and her family have destroyed their old home and faked
their deaths to go off the grid under new identities, after obtaining insider
information about a threat to the United States. The threat results in a
geographically divided America, with two governing presidents: John Williams and
Japanese-American Ann Kinji. Conspiracy, greed and a lust for power are at the root of this plot-twisting
thriller about corrupt American government; when the future of the nation
depends on former private detective Serena Wilcox and her unlikely crew.

Revolting and oddball characters, quirky humor, shocking dialog
and events: "Spellbinding!"

Book #1 in the Dystopian Thriller Trilogy [The Serena Wilcox Mysteries] is
inspirational, humorous, and clean (no graphic violence or language). The series
is cross-genre: hard-boiled mystery, suspense, futuristic, speculative fiction,
political and religious thriller genre.

NOTE to clarify any confusion: Angels Mark has been revised and has a new book cover. If you have already purchased Angels Mark bearing the cover with the child angel on it, you do not need to purchase this 2nd edition.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Evocative storytelling spins into fast-paced political thriller, leaving readers not knowing whom to trust. Natalie steps on all the right toes... Whilst weaving a crafted story that is every conspiracy theorist's worst nightmare or apocryphal dream." -James Michael Emery & Shepherd Black

From the Author

The Serena Wilcox Mysteries appeals to both men and women, from young adults to seniors. The catch? Most readers either love my series or hate it. There is no "meh" option.

Will you be a fan? If you have a bizarre sense of humor, if you enjoy something new that can't be put in a box, if you enjoy a clean read with outrageous murder scenes, if you like revolting characters and tongue-in-cheek commentary about the stupidity of mankind, you may be a fan. If you take important things seriously but laugh at the rest, you may be a fan. If you are frustrated by corruption, if you are longing to say "finally, someone who thinks like me!", if you crave reason and balance, you may be a fan.

The Serena Wilcox Mysteries
began as light page-turners that are now sold as a short-story collection. The series later evolved into the popular dystopian thriller trilogy: Angels Mark (2011), Covert Coffee (2012) and Bluebird Flown (2013). The series will take off in another new direction in 2014.

The series has been criticized for being religious, yet it has also been criticized for not being religious enough. I originally had no intention of writing a Christian book, however my clean (no graphic violence, sexual content or language) style and my mention of faith-based concepts caught the attention of readers. Some specifically mentioned gratitude that the books are a "clean read". Others expressed annoyance.

The same can be said for my style of humor. My quirky and oddball humor has been hailed as "fantastic fun" by some readers and "inappropriately lighthearted during serious subject matter" by others. Some say that they can't drink coffee while reading my books, as they "literally laugh out loud", others say that my books are "insipid and immature".

In yet another example of how readers respond differently to The Serena Wilcox Mysteries: my style of plot-twists has been criticized as "meandering" by some, and "edge of my seat, stayed up all night reading it" by others.

My books are not conventional mysteries or typical thrillers. The series is hard to classify because it's a genre of its own. The only thing that readers consistently agree on is that no one can possibly guess where the series is going. The plots, the endings, and the characters are complete surprises. If you enjoy surprises, you may be a fan.

Love it or hate it, the Serena Wilcox series is truly original and creative. Much like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angell's Mark, the newest Serena Wilcox mystery March 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
What would happen if the United States found itself torn apart from another World War? Would it survive as we know it today? Would the United States of America still be united, Still be one nation under God? Natalie Thomas explores these questions and others in her newest Serena Wilcox mystery.

Natalie Thomas brings detective Serena Wilcox back for a brand-new thriller. In this new book, Serena Wilcox finds herself in a situation where she must choose to protect herself, her husband, and most importantly, her children. She and her family are on the run. Hiding deep within a country that has been torn apart, literally, from the ravishes of WW III. Eyes are everywhere, though, and soon, the hiding turns into a fast-paced game of cat-and-mouse, with Serena and her family in the center.

Spell-binding, this is one book that is hard to put down. So glad I read it. I enjoyed every minute of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long time fan! April 16, 2012
By Lita
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As a long time fan of Natalie Thomas's work; this is my favorite! I loved previous work too; The Serena Wilcox Mysteries: Books 1, 2 & 3 this bundle is a steal for being able to get caught up with one my favorite characters. Angel's Mark kept me on the edge of my seat, and as a cautionary tale left me pondering the state of our nation and the direction we're headed in a way I haven't considered before. A great read by a fantastic author; get them ALL!

Natalie loves humor, color, and excitement. She is part Irish and enjoys that culture. She has suffered many losses, including the deaths of both of her parents. Faith and resilience are driving forces in her life.

Natalie was born in upstate New York, raised in Indiana, lived in Germany for the first three years of her married life, and now resides in the Twin Cities area with her husband and three children.

Her most recognized work, The Serena Wilcox Mysteries, is a series that she started when she was in her twenties. Books 1-3 are light page-turners (novellas/short stories)and are sold as a bundle. A decade later, the Serena Wilcox Mysteries evolved into full-length professionally edited thrillers.

The Serena Wilcox Mysteries dystopian futuristic political thriller trilogy begins with Angels Mark (2011). Covert Coffee (2012) followed. Bluebird Flown (2013) is the final book in the trilogy. The series includes an interactive Choose Your Own Mystery game offered free on the author's website and updated regularly.

The Serena Wilcox Mysteries will again move in a new direction in 2014. Natalie's signature style (humor, suspense, creative plot twists) and many of the same characters will continue. The theme of the new trilogy is a secret for now.
