Karen Subach's Mysteries is an ecumenical exploration of archetypal material that recurs in Christian and Judeo-Christian mythos:
the hero's journey (as presented in this chapbook through the persona of John the Baptist); the maiden's spiritual ravishing (as presented through the persona of Veronica);
the identity/conversion crisis (as presented through the persona of St. Paul); and the Separation from Source journey (as presented through a reflection on Genesis-through-the-Warsaw Ghetto of the 1940's). The Roman Catholic rosary that constitutes the title poem of this collection is the vehicle through which the poet offers an exploration of
the human quest for meaning, mentorship, and connection.
