This book is a great way to introduce children to Sherlock Holmes. It's easy to understand, and the pictures are superb! Will definatly keep their interest.

3.0 out of 5 stars Written for younger elementary.
I bought this book as a gift for a fourth or fifth grader who liked mysteries, but I was disappointed to find it was less than 100 pages and was written at an upper second grade level. Before purchasing, I didn't see where any of that info was available in the listing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Introduction to Sherlock Holmes for the Young Reader, September 3, 2009

My grandson is in a detective phase. He has devoured Encyclopedia Brown and is fascinated by the whole investigation thing. This easy-to-read version was perfect for a second grader to master on his own and to introduce Sherlock Holmes, the iconic detective culturally referenced in many other things, including Veggie Tales. Funny, he referenced the Veggie Tales version when he read this, not knowing that this is the foundation the others were based on. I'm most grateful for the writers who create these easy to read versions to keep kids' noses in books.

I bought this for a friend of mine to introduce her and her daughter to Sherlock Holmes, my all-time favorite literary character! Though I haven't read it myself, my friend said she and her daughter absolutely loved it and couldn't wait to read more! Sounds like a success to me :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprising, June 3, 2011

This was a good read and my daughter really enjoyed them because she likes to be spooked. I was worried she might have bad dreams but she didn't. I'd recomend this book for children 8years old and older. I think it needed one more mystery as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but easy to solve, November 10, 2008
A Kid's Review
This book is fun for kids. I tried reading the regular Sherlock Holmes book, the Hound of the Baskervilles, but it wasn't too good for me. I've read all the Harry Potter Books twice, but the Hound of the Baskervilles was too hard. I was excited when I found this book of Sherlock Holmes written for kids, and I liked it a lot. The only thing is that it was kind of easy to solve. I figured it out pretty quickly. That's why this book is a fun, but easy to solve, mystery book for kids.

This book is good, but it's not great. It only contains 3 stories, which of have no Moriarity in them.I was kind of disappointed in this book,as it did'nt contain enough good stories in it.This book is great for kids, however. It's a good way to introduce kids to Sherlock Holmes.
