Book Description

August 2004
Next to Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland, no other place on earth holds as much esoteric symbolism as France’s Rennes le Chateau. Its location and design are the subjects of countless rumors, myths, and legends. Mysteries of Templar Treasure and the Holy Grail, formerly published as The Secrets of Rennes le Chateau, delves into the reality behind the action and adventure of The Da Vinci Code. Rennes le Chateau has plenty of secrets: buried treasure, unsolved murders, supernatural powers, codes on parchments and tombstones, not to mention clues concealed in statues and paintings, enigmatic priests who controlled immense wealth, and secret societies that are still active today.

The authors survey the arcane history and secrets of Rennes le Chateau, including its relationship to the Merovingian bloodline of Christ. The Chateau is a possible location of an immense treasure, such as a Templar, Cathar, or Priory of Sion hoard. The final resting place of a famous artifact like the Ark of the Covenant, the Spear of Longinus, the Emerald Tablets of Hermes Trismegistus – or even the Holy Grail.

The authors also examine Rennes le Chateau’s proximity to Cathar and Templar fortresses, its mystical layout, and its location on the same Paris meridian as so many other esoteric mysteries.

Extensive appendices in the book offer possible solutions to secret cryptograms, point out odd connections and commonalities between Rennes le Chateau and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, and suggest the possibility of fourth-dimension/tesseract implications.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing..., April 2, 2006
By
Sum Ting (Greensboro, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mysteries of Templar Treasure & the Holy Grail: The Secrets of Rennes Le Chateau (Paperback)
By the title of this book you would think that there would be more about the involvement of the Knights Templar and The Holy Grail, but there is very little mention of either.

There is a good deal of information on Rennes Le Chateau, however you can find any of the information in this book in any other book that is about the Rennes mystery, without having to deal with the author talking in circles and repeating himself.

It seems to me that the author wrote the book more to give his opinion on other authors, which I find extremely disappointing to say the least.

Not worth the effort to read it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining as a work of FICTION. Misleading as non-fiction., May 8, 2007
This review is from: Mysteries of Templar Treasure & the Holy Grail: The Secrets of Rennes Le Chateau (Paperback)
This is a very interesting and entertaining read, but based on conjecture and falsehoods. It is a FICTION novel that has been portrayed as fact. None of this has been proven.
The book is actually drawing on a small connection between the Knights Templar and their connection with the Cathars (a dualist religious sect that was annihilated by the Catholic church as heretics). The connection is weak at best.
The book should be classified as historical fiction. An average read in that category. But as a supposed non-fiction book it rates only a 1 because it is false.
So, average rating, a 2, but that is generous considering the fact that it is really a bunch of lies based on a few facts. I say it often and I will say it again; mixing fact with fiction just makes factual fiction and therefore it is just fiction.
