This Readers Digest volume lists a comprehensive list of accounts of of strange, uncanny and incredible mysteries and experiences.
This book includes hundreds of incidences of mysteries of the unexplained. The Biblical prophecies dealt with here, are sorted out in too little detail to do them justice.
Predictions fulfilled included here are the papal successions. Included here is the incredible vision of Robert Nixon, a 13th century English plough-boy, who was seemingly retarded, who proved to be a 13th century visionary.

While he was plowing a field one day, he paused and looking around in a strange way, and exclaimed "Now Dick!, now Harry!, Oh ill done Dick! oh well done Harry! Harry has gained the day".
At this very moment Richard III had been killed at Bosworth Field and the victor Henry Tudor crowned as Henry VII.

The author reflects on some of the remarkable prophecies of Nostradamus which were accurately fulfilled, the technological predictions of Cyrano de Bergerac and the 17th century Scottish seer, Kenneth MacKenzie, who pronounced the doom of the aristocratic Seaforth family, who were responsible for his execution, fulfilled exactly as he foretold.
In 1969 Joseph De Louie walked into a Chicago cocktail lounge and asked to see a newspaper, wanting to read about a fatal train accident south of Chicago, the worst in the area since World War II. The crash, as he described it, occurred two hours later.

Other strange occurrences included here are records of animals trapped in stone, for thousands of years, before being released alive, and the discovery of the existence of pygmie races of people having lived in Europe thousands of years ago.
Also recounted are strange 'coincidences' such as how an ornate clock belonging to Louis XV of France, stopped at the precise moment of the king's death, and has never run since.

The section on Unearthly Fates deals with phenomena such as spontaneous human combustion, unexplained cattle mutilations and demonic possession. Also the cases of zombies (the walking dead), voodoo and strange appearances and disappearances.

There is a section on strange creatures sighted (monsters) and spectral incursions. also strange things falling from above such as fish, frogs and even stones.
Giving credence to the incident in the Book of Joshuah where great stones, were cast down from the heavens upon the Amorites, forcing them to flee before the Israelite army (could this have been a falling meteorite?)
There is chapter of UFOs, and a fascinating section on miracles, including the vision that appeared to three sheperd children in the village of Fatima in Portugal.
One of the children,Lucia dos Santos, predicted what could be interpreted as the horrors of World War II, and a secret dispatch from her opened by Pope John XVIII in 1960, which has never been disclosed but caused the Pope to nearly faint with horror.
Could this be the genocide and terror that will accompany the Islamist conquest of the West if the fanatical Muslims are not stopped.

This interesting book is divided into five sections:

5)The Realm of Miracles(Cures and Immunities, Signs and Wonders)
There are some really great stories in here! Highly recommended for those interested in the unexplained.

I picked this book up at a garage sale in Spokane, WA, thinking it would be an interesting read. And indeed it was.

Whether or not you believe any of the mysteries, UFO sightings, ghostly appearances, or prophetic tales described inside, it still is a very entertaining book. The "mysteries" described cover the whole range of normal and paranormal activity, ranging from the times of the Egyptians and ancient Greeks all the way up to modern times. I especially liked the section on UFOs; sightings after 1948 are grouped using J. Allen Hynek's category system: nocturnal lights, daylight disks, and radar visuals in the first category, and close encounters of the first, second, and third kinds, and, more recently, of the fourth kind.

"Mysteries of the Unexplained" also has sections on legendary monsters, including a few I'd never heard of before and a Bigfoot sighting in my own hometown, psychic experiences, and miracles, both mundane and spiritual, which further added to the enjoyment I got out of this book. All in all, "Mysteries of the Unexplained" is a veritable compendium of the bizarre and absurd. I recommend it highly.

For a mystery buff this book has some great intriguing stories. Read this from cover to cover and loved it.

The best book I have ever read on the unexplained and paranormal. I have owned this book since it first came out when I was a child, and it has dazzled my mind every time that I have read throught it.

This book is awesome, one of the best mystery books ever wrote. It's all non fiction, dealing with everything from ghosts, ufos, monsters, satanism, possession, etc. Very large and full of vintage pictures and news clippings-its like if Unsolved Mysteries was a book, the entire series in one.

I first read this book when my mother had it back in the 90's. I kept it when I moved, but it got lost. One day I found another copy in a flee marker in St. Criox Falls Wisconsin and quickly bought it, during a move it went missing. I then found another at an online auction, then accidentally left it in a patrol vehicle at work and never saw it again. I then got it at another online auction and someone borrowed it last year and never returned it. Needless to say after I buy this book again I will have bought, lost and owned this book many times. Its worth getting.
