This review is from: Celtic Mysteries Windows to Another Dimension in America's Northeast (Paperback)
"Celtic Mysteries is indeed a grand mystery for those who enjoy reading about ancient peoples and the stone monuments and structures they left behind, while leaving little physical evidence that would explain who, what, when and why. Many of these structures are found not only in Ireland, England, Scotland and other parts of Europe but also the Near East, Central and South America. But, the subject of our story is found in our own back yard with locations in New York State (one near Sleepy Hollow) and several of the New England States (American Stonehenge in New Hampshire).
The investigations are conducted by science teacher Philip Imbrogno, a graduate of M.I.T., and Marianne Horrigan, a paranormal researcher. Both have published a number of diverse articles and books. Philip's scientific methods and Marianne's paranormal skills made for a good combination in this investigation. In addition, they researched museums, libraries and universities, as well as conducting interviews with archaeologist, local people, linguist and those who have been physically affected by forces in and around the stone chambers. Some of the questions presented by this investigation were: 1) What kind of structures? 2) Who built them? 3) When? 4) Type of stones used? and 5) Why???
Most of the structures are stone chambers along the lines of those found in Scotland, England and Ireland. Many are rectangular while others are oval or square. Those in Massachusetts differed from those in New York. Dolmen and standing stones, similar to those found in Ireland and the Near East (see the book of Joshua), were found and discussed. Other structures were the stone circles at America's Stonehenge. An interesting side note involved the unit of measurement used by the builders which is the "megalithic yard", popularized by Alexander Thom and discussed in books by Christopher Knight and Alan Butler.
The authors admit they have no indisputable, solid proof of who built them, but they do speculate based on certain physical and historical evidence they found that 3 different cultures were involved....... Phoenician or Greek sailors about 2,500 B.C., Celts(Celt Christians such as "St. Brendan The Navigator" and/or Celt trappers). St. Brendan navigated around 400-500 A.D. and others around 1,300 A.D. Lastly, Freemasons as a result of precise stone cutting. One thing is certain, the colonials did not built them for root cellars as speculated by local archaeologist, and they overwhelming debunk this theory.
Establishing an exact date is difficult, but from the accumulation of soil in the chambers and calcified bird bones as well as an obsidian artifact found along with markings that appeared to be ancient Ogam, they concluded they were built anywhere between 3,000B.C. and 77 A.D. Of course these timelines don't square with the current theories about North America as stated by so called experts. More evidence will be found, in my opinion, to justify the author's date line.
The composition of the stones is mostly granite with a mixture of quartz, limestone and shale. At one point in time the chambers were in alignment. The make up of the stones and the under ground forces may play a role in the whole mystery, but that will require further investigation.
The reason for the chambers and other stones may be lost in antiquity, but the authors postulate several theories and they are: 1) Celtic solar cults 2) American Stonehenge -a stone sacrificial table was found 3) Dolmen and standing stones to commemorate someone or some purpose 4) Portals to another dimension. The chambers may be "energy generators" allowing one to travel to other dimensions. Dizziness and headaches were a consequence of standing inside the chambers. Figures appearing to be monks or Druids were seen disappearing into a stone 5) UFOs are involved in some way to move to other dimensions. This is in the infamous "Hudson Bay" area 6) Markings for sacred grounds 7) Oracle chambers(Delphi, Cumae - sound familiar? They supposedly were on high energy areas)
Whatever your belief, one cannot come away from this grand mystery without realizing that the areas are special and deserve further investigation. The authors have a done a superb job of documenting their findings with 13-14 pages of charts and findings. I would like to see Phil and Marianne team up with Alan Butler and Christopher Knight, but it must be done soon as the chambers and stones are located on private property. Real estate developers and growing discontent with researchers on private property may be the downfall of further investigation. A balance must be reached between private property rights and the publics right to historical artifacts. American Stonehenge is preserved at this moment. I can only quote the author's last statement in the book:
"Unfortunately, most of these ancient sites are not protected and they are slowly being destroyed. We hope that our continued research will educate and open the minds of others to aid in their preservation. We also feel that we have found the chambers' true purpose and place in history, and to us they are no longer lost in time"
Well done, Phil and Marianne. WELL DONE

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read, September 25, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Celtic Mysteries Windows to Another Dimension in America's Northeast (Paperback)
This is the first book to really tie together the UFO mystery and ancient megalithic sites. The stone structures in the Northeast United States are areas where there are reports of paranormal happenings. The book is an excellent account of two investigators trying to solve a mystery and being met with resistance from established science. The book reads like an adventure story.

Quite a good book, but best read with Seed of Knowledge, Stone of Plenty. Also along this line of inquiry, consider reading Civilization One and, by the same authors, Before the Pyramids.

Finally, Walter Cruttenden's amazing book, Lost Star of Myth and Time, is my favorite.

All five of these thoughtful books will make you think differently about the lost wisdom of past ages - just now being re-discovered.
