5.0 out of 5 stars Wowzer!
I could not put these books down. I liked the characters, plots, sub-plots and everything in general. I have known kids who could pull off most of these stunts...so it kept me reading to see what they were going to do next. The fact that I had to wait on the second and then the last book to be published, was hard. That is why I am glad they are now in a set. I have...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read but not as well as......
I might give 3 and a half stars but not 4 or more.
I came to see this series while looking for similar books to Percy Jackson (and I like Harry Potter too). I read other people's reviews and I don't disagree what they write. Price was "3 for 10". First half or more of Book 1 was exciting and speedy. Plot is, put it simply, that children defeat bad adults but there...

5.0 out of 5 stars CHeck out the sample first, November 7, 2010
Mysterious Benedict Society books are awesome. Super-genius kids find ways to outwit evil adults and help good ones. Adventurous, fun childhood fantasy that allows the reader to try to figure out the puzzles with the protagonist. THis three volume set on kindle is an unbelieveably good deal.

But, get the sample first. My son and I enjoyed the illustrations in the paperback books that we have. The Kindle version does not have the illustrations. Even, the Kindle version pricing is still a bargain. Hope to see more cool kids' collections on Kindle soon!

If your child likes this type of story, he/she might also enjoy the Tom Swift series - free on Gutenberg or the entire collection is formatted for the Kindle at a very low price through Amazon here: Tom Swift Collection (With easy click Table of Contents)

This is an awesome set of books! My aunt got the first two for Christmas `08 and the third and final in the series the next Christmas. They are amazing books that have great story plots and are appropiately detailed. I have the hardcover versions of all three books. I was a bit skeptical at first (the first book is 450ish pages long!), but it is a great thing to buy. I have re-read all three books quite a few times. If you ask me, these books have tons of reread value. These are great books. Buy them!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loved it!, June 4, 2011

My son is 10 years old and an above average reader. I spend a lot of time researching book choices for him and bought the Mysterious Benedict Society set for him based on other reviews and recommendations. He absolutely loved it and devoured one book after another. I highly recommend this to anyone with children in the 10+ age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Series Rocks!, June 12, 2011

I found this books series for my ten-year-old daughter to read after she blazed through the entire 39 Clues in a matter of weeks. Being that I am a writer and a writing professor(trishhopkins.com), my daughter felt a little skeptical about the antogonist being an evil twin. She thought the book might be full of cliches. However, she checked the first book out of the library to test it before I bought it. In the second chapter, she exclaimed that she wanted the entire series. She encouraged me to read it with her (her second go), and I am hooked as well. Trent Lee Stewart knows how to write a compelling mystery. One sentence alone can stop the reader in his or her tracks long enough to calm a racing heart. My daughter said that this is by far one of the best written stories she has read (compared to Harry Potter and 39 Clues, which she loves). She is hoping that it does not end with the third book. I agree that this is a extremely engaging tale with delightful characters whose traits are mirrored in most people. These books are definitely page turners, and "come on just one more chapter" adventures. I would give this series and the author more stars if the rating went higher! A must have in your personal library!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Series, February 5, 2011
A Kid's Review
A great seires, It's about 4 gifted kids who are orphans, and very smart. I would say more, but I don't want to give it away. At the end of each book, all the puzzle pieces come together. Pieces are revealed at the end of each book, pieces you didn't even know you should be looking for. Perfect for 4-5 graders, but don't let the size intimidate you (it's a thick book),just focus on the part you're in. All of the books are equally good. You need to read all three in order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value, December 29, 2010
I recently purchased the boxed set for my 11 yr old twin nieces. A huge hit. They raved about the characters & were really pleased to be reading books that had such an original plot. Being able to read all the books back-to-back was also a plus.

I was looking for a series of books that would challenge my children and still exciting enough to keep their attention and this series satisfied both.

The first day they came in the mail my daughters were hooked. My girls are 7 and 9 and read at R and V levels, respectively and had no problems with the books, although they were listed as a Level W - Z.

At the dinner table all they can talk about is these books. They are avid readers and are generally excited about books but this series pushed them to the next level. I strongly recommend.
