Book Description

8 and up3 and upReal Kids! Real Places!
In 1981, Carole Marsh (a real author) took four real kids to the famous Biltmore House in Ashville, NC. They went to learn about G. W. Vanderbilt. the Vicortian Era, O. Henry and more.

There was only one little problem...

First one kid dissappeaared. Then another! Then, so did a priceless antique chess set!

There was the creepy Halloween room, the very scary basement, the eerie attic, and all those gape-mouthed gargoyles.

Oh yeah, and all that blood! And did I say that the kids got trapped in the mile-long heating system?

Did I say ONE LITTLE problem?

How about LOTS of BIG problems! Everyone loves Biltmore House! So much so, that there has been constant demand for a reprint of Carole's most popular book ever! Biltmore's more than one big, giant house; it's one big, giant history lesson!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great educational tool for a trip to the Biltmore Estate, November 5, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Mystery of Biltmore House (Real Kids, Real Places) (Paperback)
I purchased this book before taking a trip to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina with my kids (6 and 3). Each night I read a few chapters from the book. It was entertaining enough to keep even the 3 year old occupied and my 6 year old would beg for more chapters. I was surprised at the educational value of the book. I expected it to tell us a few things about the estate but the level of detail was impressive!

My daughter loves mystery books, and this book hit the mark for her. We need to plan a trip to the Biltmore House soon (which she has never seen before)!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mystery of Biltmore House: Teachers Guide, March 20, 2007
This resource guide is very helpful in planning an integrated unit around the Victorian time period. It is extremely user-friendly and creative. My son and I used the resource guide along with the chapter book for ideas to enrich an "expert project" on the Biltmore Estate for his academically gifted program. I ended up purchasing other Carol Marsh books after using this one.
