Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 1-2-Inspired by a magician at a birthday party, Benny learns to do some tricks with the assistance of his dog, Watch. However, just as the boy is starting to feel confident enough to perform for the neighborhood children, Watch takes his magic bag (which contains the dog's animal-cracker rewards) and his favorite pink cup. The rest of the book is devoted to Benny's search for his missing equipment, which results in a happy ending. Two very simple magic tricks are described and illustrated on the last page; they will probably be of more interest to young readers than the flat text, predictable plot, and unexciting illustrations.
