4.0 out of 5 stars Amusing
I read this selection of stories in 3 days on the bus home from school. The ride seemed very short and I was reluctant to get off at my stop. So there had to be something good in these cat mystery shorts. My favourites included "The Beast Within" for it's excellent ending and "The Black Cat" for it's increasing paranoia. Some stories were just...

1.0 out of 5 stars This book made me feel horrible!
I have to say that this book really disturbed me. I had to stop reading it because there was alot of "VERY BAD THINGS" involved in most of the stories that I read. I do realize this is a mystery book, but like I said, it made me feel horrible. I really wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who has a "sensitive" side.

So there had to be something good in these cat mystery shorts. My favourites included "The Beast Within" for it's excellent ending and "The Black Cat" for it's increasing paranoia. Some stories were just plain bad like the one from Lilian Braun. Read it and you'll see what I mean. I guessed the ending way before it came and it was a bit of a let down. This is for anyone who likes cat and mystery stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mystery Cats, December 1, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mystery Cats (Signet) (Paperback)
Mystery Cats is many short story/mysteries.I found these series of stories very interesting. Some of the stories are really good while others are just ok.

Many of the stories include ghosts, murder, theft and other things that make their stories good. I really liked The Thief of the Mafia Cat. It's a story about a thief who uses his mind to figure out a very clever way to steal a heavily guarded cat.

The other one I liked was Miss Paisley's Cat. It is a story about a old lady who revenges her cat's murder. The Lady Who Wore Black is another one of my favorties. It is a story about a cat who seeks to revenge her owner's death.
Another one I really liked was The Old Grey Cat. This one is about a very strange girl and her stranger friend. I would suggest this book to ages 12 and up. I found myself confused at times. Also some of the stories in this book are a bit troubling. If you read this book and liked it there is another book called More Mystery Cats. I really enjoyed this book and would suggest it to any one who likes mysteries novels or cats.
Out of 5 I give this book a 4.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mystery Cats- One more book down the drain, February 2, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mystery Cats (Signet) (Paperback)
`Mystery Cats' is a collection of 13 short story mysteries about old men with treasure, possessed old maids, young children, and grumpy old men written by Rendell Braun. I would give this book a 2 star out of 5 rating. I didn't really like it. Mystery Cats is a mystery book and a short stories book. This book was not one of my favorites, and I didn't like it very much because the mysteries weren't very suspenseful.

I also don't like short stories much because the plot and characters are always changing. Mystery Cats put me to sleep. It wasn't like most mystery books. It doesn't create the suspense that keeps you turning the page. Actually, it does quite the opposite. I liked how the author got you into all the stories quickly, but I didn't like it how they were only about 20 pages long each.

I liked the stories' plots because they made sense and kept me in the book. The stories were okay, but they ended so quickly and the mysteries in some of the stories were never solved or completely ended. That was kind of annoying to me. The mysteries weren't `intense' enough for my taste. The mysteries in this book were rather dull.

If you like dull mysteries and short stories, then you will like this book. Otherwise, save your money for college or something else good and don't waste gas and pollute our environment to buy a dud. I would not recommend this book to people my age because it was very boring to me.
