From School Library Journal
Grade 3-5 The dead pigeon on the sidewalk could have died of natural causesor it could have been killed by wolves which escaped from the Central Park Zoo. The wolves are recaptured, but animal killings continue, and escalate in severity. Brian begins to suspect werewolvesbut who? Ralph, a new boy in school, is awfully hairy and produces chilling growls as a dog in the school play. Mareck is a sinister teenager with pointed teeth. Brian and his friends eventually solve the mystery in this second ``Monster Hunters'' adventure, and most readers will be several chapters ahead of them. The action drags on tediously. Only those who can accept werewolves on Central Park West or are particularly interested in the New York City setting are likely to persist to the end. Overall, this is a disappointing entry from a usually first-rate writer. Li Stark, North Castle Public Library, Armonk, N.Y.
