My Favorite Mystery P.I. Game So Far,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mystery P.I. Vegas Heist (CD-ROM)
I have Mystery P.I. The Lottery Ticket, and recently bought this edition (Vegas Heist) and the New York Fortune.
So far, this is my favorite one (I'm about 1/2 through it). For those unfamiliar with the Mystery P.I. series, it's a great hidden object game with various locations, mini-game mysteries and extra things to find for Unlimited Seek and Solve. The Vegas Heist is truly stunning in terms of graphics. The objects are cleverly hidden, but not maddeningly so (especially if you're a hidden object junkie like myself). I used to think the Mystery Case Files were the cream of the crop, but this P.I. Series is giving them a run for the money (especially since Ravenheart 2 was so difficult, IMO.) For example, one picture is a $50 bill, amazingly well done with objects hidden all around. Another is the inside of a souped up limo, a casino security room, and a luxury yacht. Some objects you need to find are cleverly "disguised". For example, 2 mice may be a picture of an actual mouse, while the other is a computer mouse. Some images are actually words (e.g. KEY for the key). In addition to finding the objects on the list, you can find an addition three things in each picture, one not listed: a key, a poker chip and a finger print (you have to remember to find the print, it's not listed). The mini-games at the end of each search group are Word Search (my favorite), Tile Rotation, Tile Swap, and Jigsaw. I'm not big on the latter three, but it's better than the boring bi-color Ravenhearst pictures at the end of every group! If you enjoyed the Lottery Ticket, you'll love Vegas Heist! If you're new to hidden object games, this would be a great introduction. It's relaxing, yet challenging--very enjoyable. -- Janet Boyer, author of Back in Time Tarot

This game, along with Mystery P.I. The Lottery Ticket, Amazing Adventures-The Lost Tomb are very good hidden object games. I like the Unlimited Seek and Find mode. Thousands of items to find. Anyone who doesn't like to solve puzzles in their hidden object games, these games are for you. I have all three and enjoy replaying them again and again.

Relatively pure HOG (hidden object game). Suitable for hearing impaired; possibly some vision impaired.,

Like the other "Mystery P.I." titles I've played, "Vegas" is almost completely a HOG (hidden object game). The mini-games are fun, too; in fact, I'd like to see a 3rd option in the new games that includes unlimited mini-game play. As before, my favorite part is the unlimited option. I've found only one mistake in the game so far, where one of a perceived group of objects is missed, but that's pretty piddling. Even the spelling is good, which is not a given with HOGs. If you like HOGs, you won't want to miss "Vegas."

HOURS OF FUN. REALLY MAKES YOU PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAIL. EVEN AFTER YOU'VE UNLOCKED UNLIMITED PLAY YOU WILL HAVE NEW THINGS TO FIND. MORE REALISTIC GRAPHICS THAN ALOT OF THE HIDDEN OBJECT GAMES.

Like the other review for the mystery pi games. You absolutely can NOT go wrong with thse games. I was a fan of Mystery case files...but these are just as good, and even a little better because they have the unlimited seek and find (granted you have to earn that)..they also have mini games and it's just great. I'm an adult, 57, and these kind of games I think are helping to keep my blonde brain bright. Again...you can NOT go wrong with this game as long as it's hidden objects you perfer. Can't wait for more to come out. I even have a couple of these on my Nintendo DS/XL for when we go on trips. And when my honey is channel surfing, instead of getting upset at how fast he's surfing the tv...I just play my nintendo and watch what I want when and if it comes on....makes for a happy home life. So if you are thinking about it...I say GET IT, GET IT, and GET IT

You start out searching a number of locations for 10 various listed objects in each place. You can play relaxed mode or timed mode, and choose the order of places visited. Every so often your accumulated score causes your private eye ranking to increase.
Each location has a hidden fingerprint, key and poker chip, which, if found, gives extra credit points. Finding all the keys and poker chips opens an unlimited play mode. You get about three chances to find each print, key and chip, as that's about how many times each location is visited in a game. Of course, most of the other objects on the list change each time you revisit a location. Between levels, (after about every sixth hunt-for-the-objects location) is a mini-game, (jigsaws, tile swaps, tile rotations, etc.) so it's not tedious like some other hidden object games where there is a repetitious mini-game after each hidden object location. At the end of the game you use some of your collected object to answer a series of 8 riddles. Then you place those same objects into an animated puzzle to unlock the door and recover the stolen loot. After the main game is mastered, the unlocked mode gives you a chance to completely clear each location of all the objects. I enjoy "cleaning up" the mess. :) The game can be played multiple times in each mode and still be a challenge. I gave this game 4 stars rather than 5 because I prefer interactive or character-driven storylines. This had none.

I hadn't heard anything about the Vegas Heist but it was a bargain so I thought I'd try it. I enjoyed this hidden object game very much and got more than my money's worth.
