Gr 10 Up--These two literary tales, full of suspense and dramatic build-up, are well-suited to their radio theatre presentations. Both deal with the supernatural and psychological. "The Wendigo" concerns three members of a hunting party in a lonely northern wilderness who can't be sure if a legendary apparition is real or a product of their haunted imaginations. In "Dream Woman," a confirmed old bachelor has a vision of a fair woman who materializes in due time, much to the displeasure of his mother for whom any prospective daughter-in-law is an unwelcome and evil threat. Both expertly acted, these tales will be of interest to older students and adults, especially those who want to gain insight into the mystery genre at its most subtle and sophisticated best.
